Hmm, I thought we were going to have a second beta to make sure the
bugs reported during the first beta really are squashed.

Hello al3xy5,

That message is informative, telling you something changed upstream and
making sure you are aware of it. It's benign in nature unless you have
done something funky with your own system and you need to be ready
before jumping to stable (like a tool expecting the suite to be testing).

Cheers

Okay, I did it via the cli only as per the steps 1 and 2 down the bottom of
that post; then tried dpkg-reconfigure and found that due to the attempted
install of the newer version,
I needed to do more work to fix things ... but it's all good now.

And it worked perfectly on a different box that hadn't had the errant install
of the newer downloaded package.

Thank you very much.

Yeah, I got the same...

Some googling indicated that this sort of problem might be solved by doing
an

  apt update

It gives a problem report and asks if you want to continue. Say "yes" and
afterwards all seems ok - even with apt-get

[DNG] repository status problem?

2020-06-01 Thread al3xu5 / dotcommon
Hi

I am using Beowulf coming as upgrade from ASCII, with my sources.list pointing
to (using codenames):

deb http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf main

After Beowulf has become stable, I can't update anymore doing

$ sudo apt-get update

which outputs an error about
"http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf InRelease"
has changed "Suite" from "testing" to "stable" N:
This should be accepted before obtaining updates...

I suppose either there is something wrong or missing in the repositories, or
that we have to wait for the changes to propagate.

How to behave?

Regards

[DNG] Orange Pi Zero/Orange Pi PC

2020-06-01 Thread richard lucassen via Dng
Hello list,

I just installed the Ascii image for the Orange Pi Zero (H2 CPU). I have
a bunch (20) of these OPi Zero's, running a SysV version of Debian.
Anyway, in practice *all* of these units are unstable (some services
stop working, clock at a weird time like 1937 or 2134). Even a reboot
does not help. To get things back in order a power cycle is necessary.
The Orange Pi PC also suffers from this phenomenon (H3 CPU). Switching
on the wireless interface speeds up the appearance of the problem. When
it's idle there's no problem. I also tried to set the max CPU freq to
800 MHz, but no way. These devices have different tasks and thus
different user space software.

As I need to apply a power cycle I suppose it is not a software issue
(is that right?). I'm just trying the Ascii image to see what will
happen, but I'm not very hopefull.

Has anyone seen such issues with these boards?

R.

If that doesn’t work then I agree that compiling the latest stable
would be the next choice.

yes, I am currently on ascii on all my machines. I could try to test
beowulf too, although I need to be sure to have gcc 6.5

Anyway, the tipo of the backport brings stability again, I am running now:

 4.19.0-0.bpo.8-amd64 #1 SMP

And I have run it two days, including several heavy compilation sessions
of ArcticFox, xfce desktop, suspend to RAM, browsing and some usb device
access... seems fine so far.

Not enough hands on deck. The new website was release while I was

Most likely, this is the following problem.

https://www.agwa.name/blog/post/fixing_the_addtrust_root_expiration

Apply the workaround described there, via

dpkg-reconfigure ca-certificates

I wondered about doing that but no good.

as well; I think it could get messy.

It is downloadable, does most likely not have executable code. Just
