I wish that the first three emails had their replies intact and were in
the reply after quote style. Then I would print it out and frame it.

Sorry I tuned into this so late. I would guess that rad is using the
desktop-live iso, which does use refractainstaller.

rad, what partition layout did you want? What do you mean by "private
partition"?

The installer on the live isos just copies the running live system to hard
drive. Take a look at the install guide (also on the desktop). There's a
help page you can access from inside the installer.

You can have a separate /home or /boot, but if you want to re-use an old
/home partition, you must do that manually after the install.

OK, it sounds like you're using Refracta, which is another
distribution based on devuan.

>

Which ever one you would like. If you want to use Refracta, that's
fine. I believe the maintainer of Refracta is on this list, and so are
other Refracta users hopefully as well. For reference, it sounded to
me like you were using the devuan installer such as:

This can be booted from a USB flash drive also, and this is what I
use. Again, I'm not trying to dissuade you from using Refracta if that
is what you want to use. This illustrates the importance of describing
exactly what someone is using, and what documentation they are
following.

It *does* list a co-author. Funny thing is, the co-author's name seems
kinda familiar, and I'm wondering where I heard his name before.

I have no problem with a curses version but i suspect that i use the wrong
program. Sometimes I fill blind.
The programm calls refrectinstaller-wrapper.sh

so what program should i start from the USB-stick ?

If you're using amdgpu, it's a kernel problem that was fixed in later
5.10 stable versions. I was seeing the same thing with early 5.10
kernels, but I've had no trouble since 5.10.9.

[DNG] info request

2021-02-02 Thread o1bigtenor via Dng
Greetings

I understand that Devan is NOT debian!
I'm trying to find a way of letting Debian know that in their present
push to get testing into a freeze that they have some huge pita s
happening.

To briefly elucidate - - - with a 5.10.2 kernel (and all of the
releases from 5.4.0.4) I get opportunities to practice my system setup
because with increasing rapidity my monitoros won't move off of sleep.

Any suggestions where I could file this?
Filing a bug would be appropriate - - - - but then where - - - is it
the graphics driver, is it the kernel is it the screensaver, is it
that I'm running 2 graphics cards and 5 monitors or is there some
conjunction of some number of these that becomes a witches brew - - -
- I haven't been able to figure out the problem!

Thanking any and all for possible reporting locations!!!

Regards
