Hello Sophie, all,
Many thanks for offering your help. We have first met in Lyon OOo
conference in 2006 and you have been more then a helping hand to me ever
since. I think our project and in particular the documentation team will
benefit a lot from your help.
As translating the guides into
Hello,
We are finishing the translation of Writer Guide and Calc Guide 3.x and
started translating the Getting Started Guide 4.0.
As we have limited resources and do not know where to continue, we
thought that we'd better concentrate on what users are mainly looking
for. As it is difficult to
Hi Alan,
Nothing has been done yet with regard to the German 4.3. The plan was
and still is to get English 4.2 out first. That's what I'm working on.
That would be the best way for now. The dicussed problem with Getting
Started ... will be gone in Handbook LO 4.4. So It would be better to
Hi :)
At a guess i'd say that the Getting Started Guide far outstrips the rest.
It's probably the only one that really kinda needs to be done for every
branch. So maybe needs 1 every 6 months?
2nd place is probably Writer. A little way behind that is probably Calc in
3rd place. It'd be really

Hi Jean, all,
Sorry to not have post before but I was focusing on the LibreOffice

Hi :)
Jean has always done a fantastic job at this despite never wanting the job
in the first place. I think she's naturally gifted at it but she also
(obviously!) puts in tons of hard-work at every level.
Top marks for a total star!

Hi :)
E, i'd guess that getting the first version of each guide completed is
what requires the most resources. After that updating the guide
(hopefully) takes a lot less effort. Still a lot of work but just not as
huge a job as the initial translation!
Is it easier to;

Hi :)
I think you can help by doing proof-reading or reviewing. Don't worry
about doing the screen-shots! I think just alerting this mailing-list to
the fact they need to be done might well be enough.
Reviewing is good, ie to check that the guide correctly shows how to walk
through processes -
Hi :)
Does the 4.2 need re-translating again?
I thought Hazel had already done the translations? Does anyone know where
she might have put the work she did?
Does anyone here know their way around ODFAuthors well enough that they can
help Alan avoid having to re-do work that has already been
Hi :)
Phew!! Great :)) I dunno why i was getting in such a stew about all
that. Glad to hear you have it all in hand :))
I am going to see if i can find someone from the Users Support mailing list
to lend a hand with any of the next steps such as proof-reading or
reviewing or something.
Hi :)
Does anyone know what Jean was referring to in the post below? Did Hazel
do the translations for 4.2 or not? If not that is fair enough because it
sounds like a nightmare to work on Base at all. It's just that it would be
really nice to avoid wasting another volunteer's valuable time.

I would be interested in assisting with the documentation for base, primarily
the proofreading. I don't currently use base (or any database) and feel that
this would help me to also understand the concepts and utilization of this
portion of LibreOffice.
I use both Linux and Windows although
