Well, all I know is that I tried requesting them through this list
several months ago and was told the system for setting them up was
busted. Then I saw people getting credentials here recently, and I was
told to request it from the list.

I think Base is better when you use an external back-end. The Postgresql
people made the effort to work with LO devs to make a native connector that
is built into LO. MySql is another commonly used database program but it's
owned by Oracle so it might be better to go for the drop-in replace
