Notice nothing said on AUSsoaring but John Viney passed away yesterday. I gather earlier in week he had a knee operation & assume something did not go to plan & was moved to another hospital. He was only 66 or 67 years old. These operations seem common place these days & thus you do not expect

Thanks for the advice. Ian I was shocked to read it. As you said, far too young. JV was always so helpful on technical issues re the Dimona and the depth of his knowledge was evident in every comment. A sad loss to both the gliding movement and to the members of this forum. Laurie
