Re: [DOG mailing list] More on Fuel.....

2019-11-24 Thread David McGonigal
Rob,

That is interesting. Since you last researched this (or I last heard) many
years ago I’ve leant towards BP when refuelling the car and bike. But I’ll now
put Caltex on the list above BP.

Is there any data on the discount outlets? Do they just take a bog-stock feed
from a major refinery or does the refinery do an el cheapo blend for them?

Best wishes,
David

That’s very funny Nigel. Sadly, it’s not true - it was debunked about Rudd in
2010 and is a variation that was used about George Bush, Hillary Clinton et al.
The man in the photo rejoiced in the name “Black Jack” Ketchum and was hanged
in 1901 in New Mexico.I wish it was true.

Laurie,

I did get Rob’s original message yesterday. Thanks for reposting. And yes,
asbestos is a killer. Rob will remember my friend Tony Biddle who has
mesothelioma from fitting a fibre wall to his farm’s bathroom. And my mate
Lincoln Hall died from building a cubby house with his dad.

Yes apparently Col took Richard Mole for a flight. I didn’t recognise Yankee
Tango so it’s probably about time for me to head to Camden soon.

2019-02-14 Thread David McGonigal
Laurie,

On first thought the ground loop is tempting. But I’d probably want to take out
“extreme” - the last thing you’d want would be for the aircraft to dig in and
tip forward (propelling you into the most likely fire source) or, worse, flip,
leaving you trapped underneath a burning aircraft.

Best wishes,
David

It didn’t completely lose altitude.

That G109 has better ground effect than a Nimbus 4!

The angle of attack looks a bit extreme though.

Re: [DOG mailing list] Interesting legal information

2014-01-21 Thread David McGonigal
Rob,

It’s an interesting decision but it’s still only the NSW district court so it
doesn’t establish any precedent outside the state. Effectively, it really
restates the “willing assumption of risk” principle. But extending it to cover
when the pilot is negligent, or irrespective of whether the pilot is negligent
or not, is wide ranging - and seems to rewrite the law of torts (I wonder if
there is an appeal?). In any case, a signed release will provide additional
coverage for us. The challenge will be, as Rob says, what the insurance
companies will do with this - will it leave student (and pilots) without
insurance cover against personal injury?

Best wishes,
David
