Close to what I’ve done - I have a Cisco VoIP handset that connects to my company’s SIP server so my London office number rings here or I can transfer to mobile using the handset when I’m travelling - personal calls I just use my mobile. Our house monitored alarm system changed from landline to cellular so absolutely no reason to have a PSTN line. I’ve got CityFibre, which is actually a Vodafone back end. Had it since last December and it’s been awesome with aggregate speeds across my devices approaching the advertised 1 Gbps (I don’t think I have much contention in my area). They also supply a 50 Gb 5G backup dongle, but I haven’t had to use it as I’ve had no outages so far. In CityFibre case they aren’t digging trenches everywhere, in my install they’re coming up the OpenReach telegraph pole and stringing fibre in the air. In fact, I’ve signed up for fttp at my Somerset home, delivered overhead by Voneus. They’re about 12mths behind schedule on their rollout but it should be a game changer when it arrives. I went for the 300mb symmetrical package. The plan is to use vonage to take over the landline number and convert it into a voip service. That’s £10/mo so cheaper than paying for a landline. If you don’t need your landline, you can get rid of that and the associated line rental costs when you move to fttp. If I had the offer, I’d jump at the chance.
