localalias.txt doc so that all that's there is this one line at the very

 Not necessary.  But you can trim it down to only contain
actual aliases that you want.  Most of my localaliases is listed below.
(note some of mine use the tab and some use the | as the delimiter.  i
really should standardize it.)

 > Is
>>, Configure ,  Reload the same as entering 1 or I or | or
! in the text box? In other words, I can't tell what the
character "DQSD by entering ! in the text box." is so I pressed Configure >
Reload.
Yes.  The character is an
exclamation point !

Also, am I
correct that I would always have to include the prefix d ?   If so,
it's not much different than what works now = ": octogenaria" In fact, "d" or
":" saves a step, as I don't have to mouse the >> to get to
dictionary.com or Merriam.
Yes d and : would be the same
thing.  I did not realize that Merriam Webster already had the colon ":"
as an alias .  This would make adding an
alias for d for Merriam Webster
redundant.

JB

// localaliases.txt//
//
This is where you can add your own aliases. This file will not be
overwritten// when the toolbar is updated. The format is as
follows:
//

A single or pipe "|" is used as a separator.// The symbol %s is
a placeholder that will be replaced with the user-entered// search term upon
execution. The and are used in the
help window to describe the // purpose of the alias. The
 can be used to define a category for the search to be listed
// under in the help and the menus.  If no category is defined, it will
be listed // under the 'Shortcuts' category. NOTE: Only the
 and fields are required, BUT currently all //
preceeding fields must be supplied.  I.e., this will
work://
||// But, this will
not://
 (I.e., consecutive
delimiters will be collapsed to a single delimiter.)
//
The following are some example aliases that you can use or modify for your//
own purposes: movie|ym// mov|movie//

Blank lines or lines that start with // are ignored.. You can just put
your entry at the end of the file... it will work fine..

>Is >>, Configure , Reload the same as entering 1 or I or | or ! in the

Hmm I don't totally understand the question about entering 1 or I, but what
you want to do is enter an exclaimation point (!) in the toolbar and press
return.I believe it is the same thing as selecting reload from the menu.

Yes, ':', 'd', or 'mwm' would all call the Merriam Webster search. The
aliases just lets you call them what you wish.

  Kerry,

  You
  would add something like the following to its own line in
  localaliases.txt:

  d|wmd %s|Merriam Webster|Merriam Webster Online
  Dictionary|Reference\Language

  where the format is as
  follows:

  So
  in my example above d would be what I typed to invoke the
  search.
  So
  entering the following in DQSD would launch a Merriam Webster dictionary
  search for octogenarian:

  d
  octogenarian

  After you make this entry in localaliases.txt and save it, you must
  reload DQSD by entering ! in the text box.

  Make
  sense?
  Also
  FYI: any line beginning with // tells the program to ignore the rest of
  the line because what follows is a comment for documentation
  purposes.
  JB

Where in the localalias.txt do I add

  you
  can look at the aliases.txt file in your DQSD install directory.  But you
  should **only** add your own custom aliases to localaliases.txt file in the
  same location (otherwise the aliases.txt will get overwritten on upgrade and
  you'll lose your aliases).

Where do I find the instructions on how to make an

Hi Monty:

Thanks for replying.

Since posting my question I discovered that by adding the
prefix mwd in front of a word it brings up the def in Merriam Webster's
dict (which has the free feature of pronunciation). :=)

Where do I find the instructions on how to make an
"alias?"

Thanks, Kerry

  There already exists a merriamwebster search -
  mwd.   Why not create an alias to call mwd instead?
