Richard,
A replacement for the Drake blue filter material can be purchased from
theater supply houses. The material is known as lighting gel and is available
in numerous colors. Its thinner than what Drake used but can be doubled up. It
can be purchased in large sheets and cut as required. I

I bought two sheets of the stuff and I'll *NEVER* use it all. Any

FREE a strip of the material large enough to do the dial and the meter.

Is blue dial filter material no longer available from Steve, KG9BV? I need
a set myself. My understanding is that WA9TGT stopped supply the material a
couple years ago.

Do the filters cover the entire part you want lit? I had good results

My R-4C's meter has white light on it. Is it supposed to have a blue
filter? The original PTO blue filter still looks good. Same with my
R-4B, though its PTO blue filter is very faded.

Both 'should' be blue. The blue filter for the meter is a narrow strip,
and the bulb is right up against it, causing it to fade much quicker
than the dial.

Charles,
There is a narrow blue filter strip wrapped around the very top of the S
meter. The area closest to the lamp always fades to clear. Sometimes just
flipping the blue strip around will be enough if you do not have any filter
material.

Or you can go to an office supply store and buy some blue report
covers/sleeves.
A lifetime supply for a buck or two.

Would anyone have an extra 2-NT final tank available, or a junker parts rig
with
an intact tank? I have one that after it shipped to me a couple years ago, had
been cranked in shipping so bad the coil base ceramic fractured. It will
probably still work, but am just checking.
