Neil, I use the "Chemical version" of white out. Basically paint it on, wipe excess, and then as it drys, use you fingernail to "clean up" any left over splashed or smeared edges. I have done this on some pretty dingy knobs, and they end up looking great. My R4B line had it done in the early
