The good ones cost an arm and a leg. Hickok and BK are probably the ones you'll see most often referred to as good ones. Most radio and TV repair businesses used BK tube testers. Hickok made tube testers for the military as the TV-7 series. The very best ones do their testing at frequencies far

Hi Gary, I use my 6000A regularly, haven't noticed a great difference between scales, but don't ck that way often. I can take some specific readings if you'd like. Did you make mechanical repairs, or electrical, to the meter? If only electrical I wouldn't expect a change in linearity,
