Thanks for your help and advice throughout the year. Now to my question. I now have a C line station running well and I like it very much. I use it primarily on AM and really like the vintage radio activities. I now have two other AM stations one of which I am going to sell at an upcoming ham fest. I am active on a six meter AM group here and would like to land some sort of vintage six meter station, preferably some sort of transceiver that will work well on true AM. My question is, what did Drake offer along that line? If not Drake, what else might you recommend to me? Thanks and very 73. Hi Karl - I can supply those crystals. I will send you an e-mail off the list but wanted to post this so that the others know I have them available. 73 - Brian, AF4K.com Hello group. Got hold of an old T-4X that have been used for parts some time ago. Thought the whole project was impossible, but looking more closely at it I saw that it was quite nice. The vfo was dismounted, but there. The PA cage wasn´t, but I had a spare for an old TR-4 lying around. The band crystals was (and is) missing, but for testing I borrowed them from a T-4XB. Well, turned the switch (carefully, with a variac), and after some adjustments, it put out 100W on 10-mtrs and 150 on the other bands. Sounded nice also with my D104. Likewise on cw, nice tone. The rig is nice now, and needs only the band crystals to be complete and working. I wonder if anyone out there have a spare set lying around? And are willing to sell for a reasonable price. The crystals needed are 14.6 - 18.1 - 25.1 - 32.1 - 39.6. I would also like to have the 12.6 and the 39.1 crystals for 160 and 1o m cw. By the way shipping to Norway is no problem. I found someone who sells reasonably priced crystals for the 4 line radios, however, his crystals are listed as being slightly different than the ones in the SPR-4 manual. For example, his is listed as the one for 10 mHz reception is 21.100 mHz, the manual lists it as 21.09 mHz. (note the difference in decimal places) Is this just a rounding error? Re: [Drakelist] R-4B and T-4XB crystals
I have some of them available for the Drake 2-A, 2_B, 2_C receivers as well as for the 4-Line Drake Radios. All the ones I do have available are listed here: http://www.af4k.com/hc6u_crystals.htm 73 - Brian, AF4K Are the extra band crystals available from ICM or similar suppliers for the R-4B and T-4XB, I am very impressed with the twins I have just bought and want to be able to extend the ranges. Are there any issues tuning them up on the warc bands or 160m? Also if I send the cases back to be refinished at Hartzell do they re-stencil the lettering back on the lower panels? 73 Max M0GHQ I am using the Free version of SPAMfighter. Re: [Drakelist] FCC part 97.73 spectrial putiry question
This reminds me of the Yaesu FT-101E tuning proceures. They told you to tune up for 260 watts p.e.p. input on SSB and only 180 watts DC Input on CW. My friend said that it would do fine at 260 watts input on CW and he was right. I always ran it like that and never had the slightest problem with finals failing the whole time that I owned and used it! That being 350 vs 340. Is it that multiple tubes in parallel are by their nature more prone to distortion and therefore harmonics? Ideas?
