Is there a way to tell what the handle of an item will be or generate it before the item is make public? We have some graduate students who want to have the handle of their thesis in the document to allow people to go to the supplemental data in their thesis without having to try to find it.

George, It depends on where you are doing the change. See  https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSPACE/Rebuild+DSpace and  https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC5x/Ant+targets+and+options I only make changes to [dspace-source], so I have to rebuild it for the new config to be copied to [dspace]
