[DX-CHAT] FT-920 Question re cw keying ??

2006-02-24 Thread James Nipper
I just bought a Yaesu FT-920 as a backup/vacation rig.   I have a question about cw keying.   I use an external keyer.   I do NOT wish to use the internal keyer.   I plug my keyer output to the key jack on the rig.  As I key my external keyer, I can hear the cw sidetone in the rig itself.

I agree Art but you have to do what the licensing authorities say. I have never been to C6A but I believe the rule is that you sign W2IRT/C6A and that A is part of the callwhy I don't know. Peter you might want to check http://www.qsl.net/oh2mcn/c6.htm for licensing info. It doesn't look rec

Comon sense is nice, but it's better to probably better adhere to local regulations. I have heard, and all documentation on file here indicates that in the Bahamas, you put the prefix AFTER your callsign.FWIW, sign your callsign according to the callsign on your paperwork. If they make a typograph

Peter, Assuming that you're not told otherwise by the local authorities, I believe you'd be signing C6A/W2IRT. As far as I know, all Amateur stations in the Bahamas have the C6A prefix (presumably "A" for Amateur?) I've certainly never heard of a legit C6 station signing any other prefix combina

No, you should not go to Bahamas..why you say? It's too much sunshine bad for your eyes - it's bad for your health; you will be surrounded by salty blue-greenish water-bad for the skin. You will feel like being trapped in the middle of nothing. The beaches are full - literally, full of hot san
