[DX-CHAT] Looking back at your first logs
For whatever reason I looked back at my first log last night. I was WN4PXP. And what do I find ? An entry on August 3 1964 at 3:36 pm (before I understood GMT.) 3:36 3:40 August 3 21.104 KP6AZ Jim Palmyra 579 339. A few years later I worked a few more KP6's. At the time I had no idea that he was some what rare DX. You might want to check back 50 years ago you may have worked a good one without knowing it. 73 Jim WA4PXP --- To unsubscribe or subscribe to this list. One of the most active stations I kept hearing was VT1AB. I wonder how many people can tell us what DXCC country that was, and why he had that prefix? 73, John, NT5C. --- To unsubscribe or subscribe to this list. Re: [DX-CHAT] Looking back at your first logs
Jim, great memories.. was calling CQ as WN8JPE on a cold Ohio evening in winter of 63. Guy came back to me over and over but I never heard such a strange call. He was determined to work me and kept calling. It was EL2AD in Liberia! My parents and schoolmates were aghast when I showed em' the QSL 73, Gary K7ZD On 8/13/2011 9:18 AM, jbrook...@carolina.rr.com wrote: For whatever reason I looked back at my first log last night. RE: [DX-CHAT] Looking back at your first logs
Hi Gary, Small world...THAT guy was me! I'm guessing the QSL card you have was the bright red with large white letters? I would often go up in the Novice bands and work the newcomers. I believe a lot of them probably didn't know where EL2AD was located, hi. Thanks for the QSO and QSL Gary. 73 Tony, W4FOA (ex EL2AD, ex 7Q7AA, ex PY1ZBA, etc) -Original Message- From: kf...@njdxa.org [mailto:kf...@njdxa.org] On Behalf Of Gary Sent: Saturday, August 13, 2011 2:24 PM Cc: dx-chat@njdxa.org Subject: Re: [DX-CHAT] Looking back at your first logs Jim, great memories.. was calling CQ as WN8JPE on a cold Ohio evening in winter of 63. Re: [DX-CHAT] Looking back at your first logs
Hi Tony.. yes, it was you on 40M CW.. red card with white letters. When we moved out here (FeeNix) in 80 a bunch of stuff came up missing Many LP's, my box of novice QSL's and logs. But I will never forget that QSO/QSL. Parents didn't believe me until you sent that QSL! Thanks, Tony 73, Gary K7ZD On 8/13/2011 11:48 AM, Tony W4FOA wrote: Hi Gary, Small world...THAT guy was me! [DX-CHAT] W4FOA - Tony
Tony, Boy am I red-faced! I see where I worked you at EL2AD 23 Nov. 1963 at 21:26 z on 14.028 and I neglected to send you a card. I am embarrassed! I didn't know it was you. Some things come back to haunt you don't they. 73 :-) Ed W2HTI --- To unsubscribe or subscribe to this list.
