KL7A in Bhutan WAS looking at the cluster. I saw several spots he self-posted
as from KL7A spotting A5A. What you said is not
always the case. KL7A is listed on the A5A web page as one of the operators
there.

[DX-CHAT] Spotting etiquitte

2012-06-08 Thread JIM Abercrombie

KL7A in Bhutan spotted himself several times. I saw him spot himself on 10 mHz
asking if there were any NA.
He also spotted a pirate using A5A callsign on 40 M and he commented, We are
still in daylight here.
I don't buy even one of your arguments, because I am going to operate my
station the way I want , and it is none of your business
the way I operate. I expect you to do the same.
Been operating my station this way for 54 years and I have come to respect you
as to your way of operating. I owned and operated the
cluster when it was still on packet from Augusta, GA 20+ years ago, and anyone
who didn;t like someone's way of operating could just
find another way of connecting.

Jim,

Correct callsign is KL2A.

Information sent by KL2A were of interest of many DX operators. Information
that I am not hearing DX or station I just worked is my country #350 is not of
interest for anyone and should not be transmitted over GLOBAL DX Cluster
network.

Actually, it was Jon Kimball KL2A. He even posted a spot for a 30m CW
operation of A5A saying it was a Pirate, not us. Interesting to have
one of the DXpedition ops on the cluster!

[DX-CHAT] A New Award for DXpeditions

2012-06-08 Thread Dave AA6YQ

The Cass Award encourages DXpeditions to maximize the number of DXers they
work by annually presenting a $1000 prize to the single-operator DXpedition
that works the most unique callsigns within a 4-week interval. This award is
named in honor of Cass WA6AUD (SK), whose stories in the West Coast DX
Bulletin taught a generation of DXers that DX IS! The winner of the 2012
Cass Award will be announced in March 2013.

An “unlimited” award category with a larger prize is under development for
introduction in 2013. If you’d like to pledge a contribution, send email to
contribut...@cassaward.com .

To learn more, visit the Cass Award web site at www.CassAward.com .
