Yesterday 10m and 12m were basically dead here but I could not find anything indicating solar conditions that would cause it. Almost no EU stations and could barely hear TX7M! This morning I read that last night there was a spectacular Northern Lights display across Northern USA all the way do

There were Radio Blackouts posted on the VE7CC-1 cluster page. Solar flares, proton events, etc cause radio blackouts. This is a common problem in years with high sunspots numbers. I've seen all bands go dead during years with high sunspots numbers. These number also cause aurora. Jim N4JA -
