 Statement of JA1BK concerning the
 status of Timor Leste
 Nelson Moyer,
 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED][EMAIL PROTECTED], has reported
 DXCC
Desk manager Bill Moore's ARRL's comments that
 UNTAET/4W and Timor
Leste are the same DXCC entity and Nelson guessed
  that ... Stu's and
 Kan's petition has been denied.
That is not the case. The petitions are very much
 alive and are under
consideration by ARRL. They are partially based on
 the addition of the
United Nations to the entity list even though this
 violated DXCC2000. The
person who added UNTAET/4W to the list mistakenly
 thought that ITU had
allocated the 4WA-4WZ bloc to UNTAET when in fact
 it had been allocated to
the United Nations. A mistake was made.
Many of you dxers treat DXCC as a game, and so it
 is. But since you're
spending much of your life playing it, why not read
 the rules just once at

http://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc/rules.htmlhttp://www.arrl.org/awards/dxcc/rules.html

I myself in a few days as 4W1BK made 3,503 QSOs
 with 2400 stations in May
of this year, many with contacts on several bands
 and modes, and 4W1DN
(JR2KDN) worked other stations. I am optimistic
 that the petitions will
be accepted and immediately thereafter several of
 us will reactivate 4W1BK
(we still have Thor's Rhombic and Force 12) , and
 hopefully, all who need
the new one will be in the log.

[DX-NEWS] Spam protection

2003-08-17 Thread Urb LeJeune
If anyone receives a message something like the following:

I'm protecting myself from receiving junk mail.

Just this once, click the link below so I can receive your emails. You
won't have to do this again.

http://spamarrest.com/a?48214807:38012http://spamarrest.com/a?48214807:nnn

don't respond. This particular one (spamarrest.com) is on several
large spam black list because they are suspected of harvesting the email
addresses of people answering.
In addition, I would appreciate if you would forward a copy to either
Steve, Ron, or me, and we will unsubscribe the person who originated the
message.
I am totally against spam but there are much better ways of filtering
without exposing innocent people to address harvesting.

[DX-NEWS] Change over just about complete

2003-08-17 Thread Steve-KF2TI
We are seeing several messages inquiring about the welcome message
they are getting.

Urb is in the process of moving the DXR from its current provider to
our own NJDXA server. To this anyone subscribed as of this morning
was resubscribed to the njdxa.org server, hence the new welcome.

At this point, posts will still be made thru pro-usa. Sometime next
week, and you will be advised via the reflector, we will throw the
final switchg and ann posts will come in thru [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You will be asked to change the posting address. That's it plain and
simple.

Hope you had a good weekend Summers just about over, unless of
course you live down under and then spring is right around the corner
