Paul: with the LOTW going on-line, are there plans to make DX4WIN LOTW
compatible? Is LOTW supposed to provide QSO confirmation feedback to the
uploader to begin with? If so, will DX4WIN implement a Y/N field similar
(and in addition) to the Conf field?

Happened to me too. Here is Paul's reply:
John,
Group names are part of the log. A way to loose the group names
is to export a log, and import into a new one.
When you have a log with group names in it, proceed as follows:
1. Keep backup information!!
2. Open the log with the groups in it.

I tried to add a Group Name to a contest file I just imported. I was
surprised to see no groups listed in the Edit Group Names box. I looked
at my log and saw no group names listed anywhere. Before I updated from
V5.03 to V6.02 I had over a dozen groups. How do I recover and/or what
did I do wrong
