[Dx4win] QSO Grouping and DXCC

2002-07-14 Thread Ron Tremayne VK3IO
Hello DX4WIN all users and in particular those who are experts.

I have been using DX4WIN ver. 5.01/5.03 for almost two years and I am =
very happy with it, except for a few things.

This is my first enquiry and obviously I have kept abreast with the =
questions and answers and have generally feel comfortable with the =
program.

I now have finally entered my previous paper log qso's and now can =
concenytrate on other issues.
=20
I have established 8 groups which represent the different QTH locations =
as portable operations and also qso's as P29IO and I have group 000 (All =
QSO's) selected when entering information for the current QSO.
=20
These groups show up in the Previous QSO window, which I can refer to =
during the current QSO, which is all very nice and fine.

What I would like to know is is it possible to have the Country and =
Zone Windows which I also have on the display to show the DXCC and Zone =
status for selected groups.
=20
That is, I want these windows to show what is still required to be =
worked or confirmed for this location, home QTH Grid Square, for any =
DXCC or other award application for groups 1,2,3,5,6, not 4 and 8, as =
the last two were for location outside this grid square or generally =
this QTH and so would not apply to any DXCC (or other) award I am =
chasing from my home QTH.

This question also applies to Reports/Summary etc, although I know I =
can create a Customised Report and select a (one) group to do this, I =
would like to know if this can include multiple selected groups.

I have some other issues, but these two question will do for a start, if =
any one can help.

Thank You

Ron, vk3io

2002-07-14 Thread Vlad UA6JD
Here is update for DX4WIN5.03 addresses database from
425 DX NEWS bulletin #584.
You need copy adr data and save as text file ,for
example,Adrupdate#13.txt .
Then add it to DX4WIN usual way:File|Databases|Manager
Addresses
then
File|Import Addresses|open Adrupdate#13.txt Then SAY NO
(VERY IMPORTANT SAY - NO) then OK and SAVEEXIT.
You can also use for update instruction in DX4WIN Manual.

[Dx4win] AA5AU's new web pages RE serial port adapters

2002-07-14 Thread wa9als
At my suggestion, Don (AA5AU) said it was OK to post his message below to
this list. I thought there would be interested parties here, as there's
always someone interested in the best way to get more COM ports! Maybe
Don's pages will eventually be a good resource that we can refer new people
to. 73

  Subject: [MMTTY] USB-to-Serial Adapters Info

I've taken recent posts from the MMTTY, RTTY and WriteLog
reflectors concerning USB-to-Serial adapters, along with research on
my own concerning other such devices and created a web page
   dedicated to them (www.aa5au.com/usb).

The research was quite interesting. There was only one such device
that has been confirmed to run FSK RTTY (the Belkin F5U103) even
though there were conflicting reports that others had trouble running
FSK
   with this unit.

I searched the Internet for USB-to-Serial adapters and placed links
for
information on each one. I also came across NexTag, which is a great
resource for determining where to find some of these devices and what
their prices are. For example, the Belkin F5U103 ranged from $44.97
from TheNerds to $79.95 from PC Connection.

I'm sure I didn't find all that was out there, but from the list I've
  compiled,
hopefully others will be able to make a determination as to what they
   want, need and can afford.

I will do the same for Expansion Serial COM boards next. Check
   www.aa5au.com/rtty for this info.

73 thanks for all those that sent me info on what they were using
for
   USB-to-Serial conversion.

[Dx4win] Qsl Question

2002-07-14 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Courtney Judd)
I have a question for the reflector audience. Contesting has opened the
doors for a major headache for me in the amount of qsl 's that I receive. I
am making about 15K qso's / year in contests and I am getting about 50%
sending me a card for each of those contacts. This is not an insignificant
amount of resources for me. I don't mind sending a card out for someone who
needs Alabama or Marengo Co, but how many times do you need a card from me
for 10 mtr SSB contest qso's. I am not going to mention the station/country
that has the record for getting the most of my cards on a single band/mode.
I stumbled on to this one by accident: 11 cards. My question: is there any
way to get DX4WIN to show me the amount of cards/per station/per band/ per
mode. I will no longer send a card for third ( two already sent according to
log) or more qso's/band/mode regardless of cards sent to me unless direct
with SASE. I would like to create a list (blacklist if you please) of these
stations to shorten my response time to the ones who really need it. I guess
you could call it a qsl filter.. I really would like an answer! Thanks 73's
