[Dx4win] Duplicate QSO's - Import Crashes

2011-05-08 Thread Art - W6KY
There are times when there will be duplicate QSO's while
importing, such as a state QSO party when a station is
sitting on a county line. That station is entered twice to
pick up each county mult. But when importing to DX4WIN,
the import crashes due to 'duplicate QSOs', which they are
not.

Question: Why does DX4WIN stop an import due to a
dupe? There should just be a question at that time.
   Continue with Import?
This causes so much trouble as the 'dupes' have to
be taken out of the ADIF file and then re-entered into
DX4WIN manually. And they aren't even dupes...

Needs a change or am I missing a checkbox somewhere?

What version are you using? Version 8.05 will import duplicate QSO's
from a QSO party log for stations on a county line.

Re: [Dx4win] eQsl, qsl confirmed download of .ADIF file

2011-05-08 Thread Mel
That IS the adif file and it's being rendered as text which is not
surprising as it is text. Just select save page as and save it as
whatever.adi The exact instructions will vary with browser and version,
but you should be able to figure it out.

 Can any help with this:
When downloading from the eQsl Archive I don't get an ADIF file downloaded to
 my PC.

What I get is a lot of web-pages with the raw data shown no downloaded ADIF
 file.

I'm using the link on the bottom of the Archive page that says: 'Download
 entire InBox in
ADIF format'? That takes me to another page where I select the '.ADI File'
 link.
I then save that file to my PC desktop. This file is not recognized by DX4WIN
 as an ADIF file
that can be imported by DX4WIN.

When I click on the .ADI file on the eQsl web-page 'Download entire InBox in
 ADIF format' following
is shown on the webpage (see copy in italic below).

I had anticipated that the system would make an ADI file which I can save on
 the PC directly like LoTW?

The eQsl forum does not have a procedure that can help me.

The file downloaded from eQsl and saved as an .ADI file can't be imported to
 DX4WIN.
DW4WIN does not show the file as an .ADI file that can be selected to import.
 The file downloaded
from LoTW is shown as a file that can be selected and this works.

 Can anyone here help?

 Best regards

Re: [Dx4win] Duplicate QSO's - Import Crashes

2011-05-08 Thread Lee Hallin
Hi Art,

I haven't tried your exact scenario but you might check the following:

1) Backup your log to a different name!

2) Go to Preferences - QSO - then check Show seconds in time
I don't know if this only effects the visual display or if it alters what
portion of the
time gets used during date/time comparisons.

3) Go to Preferences - Import.
Click the down arrow and select Show QSO information and ask
This may or may not address your concern; depending on whether it logs
questionable QSOs
as separate QSOs or overwrites previous QSO with the current one.

[Dx4win] New data updater delayed a few days

2011-05-08 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Sorry folks, the new data updater (features documented in release
notes as v. 3.2) will be delayed a couple of days. Long story short,
I re-wrote over half the program over the weekend (when I added
-restore late last week, I did it about the worst way possible).
Sunday afternoon I was down to the last routine, went to someone's
house and cut my finger on a wine glass (and I don't even drink wine).
Only five stitches but they are on my typing hand :-)

One feature I implemented this weekend that I think you will like is
that when updating with prompting, if the file has not changed, there
will be no prompt, just a message saying you already have the latest
version. In other words, you will only be prompted if the file on the
web is newer. I also fixed the way that the DX4WIN.TCP (cluster
nodes) database is updated (on the dxcluster.info web site), so even
though the list may be updated several times a day, the updater will
not have to update your copy EVERY TIME you run it.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed documentation comments. I
got a bit behind on making the changes, but I'll catch up when I can.

73 - Jim AD1C

p.s. typing the letter 'o' without use of one's ring finger is a pain
(I get 'i' most of the time). Also a little tough to work to work the
right mouse button.
