[Dx4win] DX4Win 7.02.13 - MMTTY/FSK - MicroHam Keyer?

2006-05-17 Thread Erkki Heikkinen
Jim,

Solved it: I was trying to assign the RTTY port (COM7) in the DX4Win
MMTTY window (alt-S). That is not needed as the port is opened by MMTTY.
Works OK now.

Still wondering why the RTTY control window (waterfall and scope) does
not stay on top if any other window is activated (I have to click the
task panel to bring it visible). However, when DX4Win is minimized, the
RTTY control window stays on top of the application window below (like
Outlook). Not a big issue but I think it should not behave like this.

Thanks 73

I'm not in front of the radio, but I do have a copy of DX4WIN here.

First, make sure that MMTTY works stand-alone with microKeyer.

 In DX4WIN preferences - RTTY:

 - Type should be None
 - COM Port is your PTT port (might not be used)
 - MMTTY Executable is full path to, and including, mmtty.exe

That should be all you need to do.

Window - MMTTY should bring up two windows: the RTTY
input/output window, and a small MMTTY window.

[Dx4win] Packet window problem

2006-05-17 Thread Bill Clark

I had previously reported a problem with the packed window closing when I
maximized my home page for e-mail and such. I had downloaded just the update
file for the upgrade from Guy's site to keep from doing a complete install for
the -13 fix. When I downloaded and installed the complete install file for the
-14 fix, the problem went away?

Would you mind sending me your log (before import) and the ADIF

Information in your log is only modified when the field was empty;
if the values (like US state) are different, a note is added to the notes
for the QSO, but the original value is not changed. If you observe
something different, I consider this a bug that needs to be fixed.

Be very careful when running a lotwreport.Adi download into your log.
Make sure you have a safe backup so that if you don't like the results
you can go back.

I don't believe this function is working correctly yet. I have two
issues.

Firstly after running the download into 7.01 my Upl Cnfm's match what
the LoTW web site says exactly. Doing the exact same procedure into
7.02 v13 I end up with hundreds of extra Upl Cfm's which is total
rubbish.

Secondly if you try to import the QSO information into your log, it will
over write your existing information and put a note in the notes for
this QSO. Supposedly you should be able to do this without over writing
you existing information just get the entries in the notes for this QSO
field if the information is different.

Well perhaps I am doing something wrong with this one but it sure looks
like it works completely reverse to how the book tells it.

I am going back to 7.01 and I'm going to let everyone else be the guinea
pigs until the dust settles on this 7.02 fiasco.

[Dx4win] US Islands Award

2006-05-17 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Is anyone using DX4WIN to track the US Islands Award?

W8TTS has a more recent list of islands, but he calls the award [USIA] whereas
DX4WIN 7.0x calls it [USI]. If I change the name, some people's award tracking
may be compromised. If I don't change the name, I will probably forget the
next time Ted updates his list.

Paul:

Here is a potential problem that I have not seen mentioned, but which
appears to be correlated with 7.02.

While composing emails in Outlook (2000), the message window frequently
deselects, even in the midst of typing. Clicking in the window restores
selection--until it again deselects. This does not occur if DX4WIN is not
open at the same time! I am using build 14.

I am getting ready to depart for Dayton and have not had the time to
investigate further, e.g. does this occur if packet spotting is inactive or
not? I won't be able to do any more work on this until after Dayton.

Hi Garry,

I have not heard of this problem before. It sounds like DX4WIN might be
stealing focus when spots come in.

I don't have this problem, but I'm using a PowerToy from Microsoft called
TweakUI. I have it set up so that whatever window the mouse pointer is in has
focus. You can download TweakUI from:

[Dx4win] DX4WIN.AWD - side effect of prefix changes

2006-05-17 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Folks,

Rod WC7N accidentally discovered an unfortunate side-effect of the
prefix changes in the DX4WIN.AWD file. These changes were a result
of needing the award prefixes to match the country file
prefixes. Otherwise, when selecting eligible awards, the award might
not be considered valid for the old prefix.

For all custom awards, DX4WIN saves the award abbreviation (i.e.
USIA) and the award value (i.e. AK020) in the logbook along with the QSO.

Some awards have sequential value codes (like USIA), others use the
entity prefix as the award value. If you are tracking a custom award
like WAE-CW, that uses the prefix as the award value, the prefix
change in the .AWD file can result in the QSO value no longer
matching the award value (i.e. the log says 4K2, but the award file says R1F).

There is no automated way to fix this. You will have to print out
your old (working) custom award status and your new custom award
status. If an entry comes up as Unknown, find the QSO and change the
Custom Award value field to the correct name. Save the QSO and
repeat for each incorrect entry.

If this is too much, the best way is to send me your .DXL and
DX4WIN.CTY files, and I'll make the change for you.

There is a way to fix this, but it makes the award file look like a
hybrid of old and new prefixes. I'd rather maintain only one version
of the award file, not two.

Sorry about that!

73 - Jim AD1C

p.s. the affected prefixes are (format is OLD, NEW):

   { 3B6, 3B7 },
   { 3X, 3XA },
   { 4J1, R1M },
   { 4K2, R1F },
   { 4W, 4W/D },
   { 4W1, 4W },
   { BS7, BS7H },
   { BV9, BV9P },
   { CE0A, CE0Y },
   { EM, UT },
   { FO/C, FO0 },
   { FT/W, FT5W },
   { FT/X, FT5X },
