That's strange. As reported earlier, I could create the new country; but I cannot enter the end date for FJ in the FS mapping field - when I press the UPDATE command in the COUNTRY window, it returns an error Command not executed! [Dx4win] Leaving Telnet connected 24/7
I often leave DX4WIN running and Telnet connected for DX spots 24/7. When I am home, I can check the window every time I walk by the shack to see if I see any Red or Yellow spots. If I'm not home, the telnet window collects all the spots so that when I return I know what activity has occurred while I was gone and in some cases the DX stations are still there when I return. Question - I'd love to avoid leaving my computer running 24/7 if possible. Are there any internet based services out there that can collect the spots while my computer is offline and allow me to fill my DX4WIN spot window from those saved spots when I bring my computer back online? Of course, it's not going to help much to find something rare that went off the air 8 hours ago, but it would let you know that they might be around. Kelly, Lee, VE7CC, has an excellent program that connects to DX nodes. When I open it in the morning it provides me with the last 100 DX posts. I don't know if you can download more than the last 100 spots but you can check it out at: http://www.bcdxc.org/ve7cc I connect DX4WIN to it and enjoy both programs. 73..de John/K4WJ At 04:23 PM 12/20/2007, Kelly Johnson wrote: I often leave DX4WIN running and Telnet connected for DX spots 24/7. Actually, seeing something that was on 8 hours ago is sometimes useful, especially for a DXpedition because it gives you an idea of what bands they are working at what times of day and what times of day people in your part of the world are hearing them. The bigger problem with this approach is that I don't know if you can filter the DX Summit spots based upon the geographic location of the person posting the spot. I typically use a telnet cluster that filters out everything except spots made by U.S. stations on the West Coast (where I live). I would really want to load in only spots from West Coast stations. Would that be possible? On 12/20/07, David, K2DBK [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: One of the options that comes with the default list of cluster locations is the ability to pull down spots from DX Summit. [Dx4win] Saint Barthelemy Info
Hello Natale, and the Reflector... I have updated with new Country FJ, everything seems okbut when I enter a prefix FJ he will show as Country FRANCE. It seems you deleted the FJ mapping prefix for both St. Martin and St. Barthelemy. Check this: 1) Go to St. Martin's mapping list and be sure there is an FJ prefix which ends on 14/12/07. Click on Mapping Update to save the change. 2) Go to St. Barthelemy's mapping list (I think you already created the new entity) and be sure there is an FJ prefix which starts on 14/12/07. Click on Mapping Update to save the change. 3) Exit saving the changes. You should now be able to log an FJ callsign under St. Barthelemy (if the QSO's date is on 14/12/07 or after), or under St. Martin (if the QSO's date is before 14/12/07). I hope this will help... P.S.: I think the end date and start date may be the same, because the end date means in fact the QSOs before that date. By the way, you may click on the File Check for errors to check if there is any error (usually an overlapping error). [Dx4win] Unable to add FJ
I've been unable to add FJ. I've changed the FJ mapping in FS to end on 12/13/2007. That took. But when I attempted to add FJ (with the help screen open), I was able to enter the initial mapping, but when I attempt to add a mapping (as instructed by the Help screen), I get no entry boxes. The Mappings tab appears, but it's all gray, no boxes to enter any data. So I save the changes and exit, shut down DX4Win, reopen it, and FJ is not there. I'm able to repeat this on every occasion. The callsigns tab is also completely gray when open. I'm in Advanced mode and my version is 6.03. I won't bother to ask why this is such a convoluted and counterintuitive provess. 73, Joe KQ3F

Each time you do something on a tab, you have to go to that tab's menu and update what you did into the database. Until you update, nothing is saved. Click on the Mappings tab. It will be blank. Then click on the Mappings menu. Then click add. You should now see a new blank data entry box in the mapping tab. Enter the mapping data you want and then go back up to the mapping menu and Update. 73, Bob W5OV -Original Message- From: Joe Stepansky [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, December 20, 2007 9:48 PM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: Re: [Dx4win] Unable to add FJ As further information, I followed Kostas's instructions to the letter, several times. OK, it now works. Thanks to Gary, VE1RGB and Bob, W5OV. I could have sworn I was doing it exactly as Kostas and Gary mentioned in step by step fashion. But Bob put it in narrative form and somehow that worked. As I mentioned to Bob, I'm absolutely convinced I was doing the Countries/Update before trying the Mappings, but maybe my brain was seeing something that wasn't there, don't know. Anyway, problem solved. Still don't like the process, but I'll save these emails because there will probably be more countries/entities in 2008. 73 and THANKS, Joe KQ3F At 10:47 PM 12/20/2007 -0500, Joe Stepansky wrote: As further information, I followed Kostas's instructions to the letter, several times.
