RE: [Dx4win] CPU usage - Once more
The CW announce was not the culprit. I have 100k QSOs in the log with 38 different group numbers and I was using a selection. Reverting to ALL QSOS made the difference. No more problems with the CPU approaching 100% duty cycle, now it remains in a few %. I exported my selection to a new log file in order to be able to track my DXCC and all is well. However, there is something strange in my laptop as the selection used to work fine before I had HD crash and the XP Pro was reinstalled. 1.4 GHz CPU with 750M memory should be enough for this application. 73 Erkki OH2BF -Original Message- From: Erkki Heikkinen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, May 23, 2008 10:12 PM To: 'dx4win@mailman.qth.net' Subject: RE: [Dx4win] CPU usage Further to my previous (see below): Looks like I found the culprit. All seems to be well when I switched from CW Announce to Voice Announce. What is interesting is that I have only new countries set for announce and there has been no spots for the three missing ones... Maybe the CW announce is trying real hard to find something to announce, hi. I know absolutely nothing about computers, but I have been using DX4Win succesfully with CW announce since v. 1.6 (or something like that). However I would prefer to have the CW announce available, so that it can activate my 70 cm handy with VOX and pass the announce to another 70 cm handy in my pocket when I am not in the shack. Voice announce should work ok, but CW seems to be more readable in the garden... A big relief. 73 Erkki OH2BF -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Erkki Heikkinen Sent: Friday, May 23, 2008 7:17 PM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] CPU usage A while ago I had a HD crash on my laptop. After getting it back with XP Pro reinstalled, it started behaving strangely with DX4Win. Once in a while (3-4 times per minute) the CPU load is nearly 100%, screen updating is hesitating and cursor freezes momentarily. When I stop the radio there is no problem and the CPU load is only a few percent. I tried different polling intervals from 1000 to 5000 ms - no difference. I was reading the archives and found that this has happened to others, but there was no clear solution. I tried to stop things in the Device Manager and restart them - no difference. There is no difference between DX4Win 7.04.04 and the previous version, so DX4Win is obviously not to blame. If I remove Windows update KB908531 (discussed in the archives), it will destroy a lot of other patches which came later, so I have not done that. Disabling the antivirus program does not make any difference, either. DX4Win works, but I do not like these hesitations which can take up to three seconds. The CPU is a 1.4 MHz Celeron with 750M user memory (service Pack 2 and all the patches installed)and the radio is IC-756PROIII through MIcroHam Keyer virtual COM port running latest router software. Any advice is greatly appreciated. 73 Erkki OH2BF ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listi nfo/dx4win ___ Dx4win mailing list Dx4win@mailman.qth.net http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win

Re: [Dx4win] Rig file for the Yaesu FT 950
Guy, This change made no difference. Jim, Again, for everybodys' information, I am using FT-9000 V31. Under preferences, baud rate is 4800, poll rate 5000, DTR and CTS both checked. The FT-950 is working except for the panorama function. Spots go to the radio properly when the spot is clicked on in the spot window (including split freq spots), and the progran reads the freq properly from the radio and puts it into the logbook. Sending spots also seems OK. The problem with the panorama function is the S meter is pegged at max as the freq is scanned. When a signal is received. the display s meter reading dipsaccording to the strength of the signal. de Vic, N5YY ex AE5DX - Original Message - From: ON4AOI [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Saturday, May 24, 2008 4:07 AM Subject: RE: [Dx4win] Rig file for the Yaesu FT 950 Correct Jim, For those that wanna try Edit the following in FT9000v3i file To use with FT-950 (with Textpad or similar editor) ORIGINAL PART === [RC-Read S meter] CSTR=SM0; CDELAY=260 LEN=7 LOC=Other MODIFIED PART === [RC-Read S meter] CSTR=RM1; CDELAY=260 LEN=7 LOC=Other Guy ON4AOI -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: Jim Reisert AD1C [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Verzonden: zaterdag 24 mei 2008 0:12 Aan: Steve Schneider CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Onderwerp: Re: [Dx4win] Rig file for the Yaesu FT 950 I think Guy ON4AOI has been doing some work on the Yaesu radio files.
