[Dx4win] spot priorites in version 8

2009-08-29 Thread Neil G0JHC

I have recently upgraded from version 7 to version 8.

I don't have this issue with version 7.

I have now developed a situation where in the DX spots priority listing, a
band slot never worked before (any mode) is given a priority 3 where
priority 2 spots can be a combination of spots I've not worked before, any
mode (don't know why these don't appear as priority 3) and some less
important band mode slots, where it's not a new DXCC on that band but would
be a new mode if I collected them (I don't).

What rules do I need to set (or boxes to tick) to change the priority 3
spots to priority 2, (and visa versa) as I'm not interested in any mode
slot, so long as the DXCC has already been worked and confirmed and as it
stands DX4WIN wins a higher priority on my configuration to a missing mode
than a missing DXCC band slot (any mode)..how do I change that.?

To sum up, if I have the DXCC confirmed on the band spotted, (irrespective
of mode) I don't want to know about it on another mode. Currently its
giving me it as a priority 2, and I want to swap P2 spots with P3 and visa
versa.

Thanks

Hope you follow!

Neil G0JHC

[Dx4win] Mailed cutoff - explain?

2009-08-29 Thread Scott Townley
Either I misunderstand Mailed Cutoff or it's not working correctly in 8.01.
Example: Mailed Cutoff value = 730 (days, as I understand)...so 2
years. My understanding is that any QSL Date earlier than 2007-08-29
should show up W instead of M.
I have a particular QSO whose QSL date was 2000-02-26. This QSO (the only
one in its band-mode combination) shows up M in the Country window. No
matter the date (even ridiculous ones like 1930-01-01). The only way to
make it show up W is to completely erase the QSL date field.
I do have all the electronic QSL date fields blank as well. So it's not
that. What I was planning on doing to work-around the M problem is I
copy my log to another file, NX7U_packet.dxl and in that log I globally
erase all the electronic QSL dates. I had hoped that would restore the
original Mailed Cutoff behaviour but no dice. Or like I said, maybe I
misunderstand how it works.
TIA,

Re: [Dx4win] spot priorites in version 8

2009-08-29 Thread Bob
Hi Neil,

I don't think that you can change the priority number as to
define which is more important to you. However in your case you can go
into the Preferences- Packet 2 and change the display color of the new
mode spots to the same as nothing special and the same with
new band/mode . The number will not change but they will not catch
your eye and you will see the spots you do consider a priority in their
distinctive colors.

  I hope that helps you!!

73,
Bob

Re: [Dx4win] spot priorites in version 8

2009-08-29 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I don't think version 8 changed in this area. The priorities are
exactly the same.

Did you import (merge) your preferences from version 7 to version 8? It
sounds like your packet preferences may be different.

Also go into the Awards Manager on the DXCC tab, and make sure the award
bands and modes your care about are enabled, the rest are not.

[Dx4win] Using PSK31 with DX4Win

2009-08-29 Thread Mel
I am trying to use DX4Win for PSK31 (I usually use MixW) and I am
looking for the keystroke that works the same as %e in a macro for live
keyboarding. It's not Escape as that is immediate... what do you type at
the end of a transmission or do you have to use a macro? Also is there a
way to log multi-word QTHs easily... for example St Benoit or Palo Alto?

Hold fire on this... apparently there are some changes coming in 8.02.
I believe the M can be an indication that the QSO was uploaded to LotW
in 8.01... I haven't really looked at it since it's going to change...

Like I said, though: the QSO in question *did not have a date entered for
any form of electronic QSL*...either LoTW or eQSL. So as far as the log
knew, nothing is uploaded and paper is the only thing...

Re: [Dx4win] Mailed cutoff - explain?

2009-08-29 Thread Mel
Sorry, I didn't read carefully enough.

I tried it here and what I note is DX4Win is using the Worked cut off
date instead of the Mailed cut off date to determine if the indicator
should be M or L. I don't believe this is correct... at least, if it is
correct, I don't understand the logic. Perhaps it is a bug.

I am very disappointed with the new 8.01 version

The cw keyboard now with the new function immediate in the CW Parameters
