Re: [Dx4win] Voice Announcements

2010-12-14 Thread Dave Hawes
Are voice announcements only made if DX4WIN has focus?

 Hi Dave,

I believe D4W only announces a new band/mode/country the first time it is
spotted. So you can get many, many additional spots for new whatevers and
the program doesn't announce them. Maybe that is what you are seeing?

 Subject: [Dx4win] Voice Announcements

I have been and continue to be perplexed by the fact that voice
announcements of packet spots are intermittent.

I have Preferences | Packet 1 set as follows:

 Warning messages Ignore
 Audio/Voice Band/Call
 DX Alerts New Award Band
 Callsign Alertblank

This should give me a voice announcement for any Priority 1/2/3 spot.

I get very few Priority 1/2 spots, but lots of Priority 3 (New Band) spots,
 and
they do show up as red background/white letters. However, not in all cases
do I get a voice announcement. The audio part is intermittent.

Is there some other setting I can look into, or perhaps there are some
 rules
in the code running that block certain voice announcements. I'd like to
 get
 this working 100%.

[Dx4win] Unable to enter data

2010-12-14 Thread Ralph Fedor
Something has gone astray inside DX4WIN --- maybe due to operator error.
I'm using version 8.04 and have done a few things that I don't do on a
daily basis added a couple logs from recent contests, used F8 to create
an adif file for LoTW, and made some adjustments to my MicroHam interfaces.

But, suddenly I can't enter data in the windows under Preferneces.
Specifically, I can't type data into, or get it there with drop down menus,
in the QSO, Import, Radio, CW, Packet 1, RTTY, or Ext. Data windows. The
entry fields just stay blank.

I am using two radios. DX4WIN will follow radio 1, but not radio 2.
Perhaps radio 2 has fallen out of the Radio window under Preferences.

Any help or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I am using the latest version of DX4WIN and have purchased the software
license, but cannot communicate with my Yaesu FT-950 and SteppIR SDA 100
Controller. I didn't worry about it with the demo version thinking it was
crippled as the demo and fixed when you make your purchase but that is not
 the case.

I have the FT-950 radio selected and have mirrored the same selections
that work on N1MM, HRD, AC Log 3.0 etc. I have examined the help files in
the new user setup PDF, I have looked through the Help Radio setup files
and there are not many choices. I have the SteppIR provided Y logging
program interface cable that joins the serial port of the radio/SteppIR
SDA100 Controller/Computer and as I mentioned, other vendors software
communicates with no problems but not with this software. I have tried
different Yaesu radios in the same catagory, tried changing RTS high/DTS
high with no luck. I looked at the reflector for similar problems as mine,
but only found reference to older Yaesu radios so I guess I will see if
 this
problem will be addressed in future DX4WIN update software fix on a later
release. FWIW, I'm running XP Pro on a dedicated computer with no other
applications running to tie up the port. If there is something I've
 missed,
maybe somebody who has faced this same problem can point me in the right
 direction.

 Bill,
Did you select the YAESU FT-950 rigfile in preferences
Start with the rig first and when it is working
We move to the next step for the SDA controller

2010-12-14 Thread ON4AOI
Ralph,
Since it is not the expert problem I think your dx4win.cfg
Got corrupted, first make a full backup of the complete dx4win directory
Then Delete in the save directory dx4win.cfg

Close dx4win and restart, You have to do all settings again
Now, but probably all your problems will be fixed.

[Dx4win] Sudden printer error

2010-12-14 Thread N3SL
OK, I printed QSL labels last evening. No problem.

Tonight I went to print more, and when I click on the Print button, I
immediately get a error message Unknown Paper. Clicking OK to clear the
message box then gets me another: Access violation in module MIMFF5_Q.DLL
 Read of address 0006C

Anyone have a clue what this means? I've done nothing to the computer
since last evening

Thanks for any assistance.
