[Dx4win] Using PstRotator program with DX4Win

2014-02-05 Thread David Gould

Is anyone else using this program with DX4Win V7.7?

Also if anyone is using V8.05 I would be interested if it works
successfully with this version?

The issues I have are as follows..

1) If I use a preset in PstRotator, when I return to DX4Win and do
F11 to move to the bearing in **THE CALLSIGN ALREADY IN THE LOGGING
WINDOW** the rotator does not turn.

2) The same thing happens if I use the PstRotator STOP button, I
can't then turn to the direction of the current callsign.

The only way round I have found is to click on a different spot - not
save the current QSO - then click back to the wanted spot - not save
again. and then the rotator will turn.

Any report of this working or not-working for other would be useful.

Thanks,

Dave, G3UEG

2014-02-05 Thread Dave Perry
Dave,

I use V8.05 and I have no issues with pstRotator. It's a great program and
works well with DX4WIN. I use the Stop button all the time and I always can
use F11 right after that. I don't use the Presets as much, but I will try
one when I get home later today.

DX4WIN loads the entire log into memory when it is running, and writes
it to the disk when you exit the program. There is no networking
option. You can put the .DXL file on a network drive, but it's very
easy for one computer to save the log and over-write any new QSOs that
the other computer saved earlier. I have a somewhat complicated
networking setup at home but I don't recommend it. I have my DX4WIN
saved in at least two locations on each computer. I have occasionally
over-written something, but there are enough backup copies that I
merge any missing QSOs back into the main log.
