Thanks. I got about half a dozen other responses that confirms the problem.
Overall, now having added a second sound card, I notice DX4Win makes a
lot of noise.
E.g. when hitting the F9 key to start adding QSO to the log. etc. etc.
I really wish it was possible to switch this off.

Bjorn, Tested mine. It does it too. Plays the "asterisk" sound from Windows.
Have not had 2 sound cards long so never really paid attention to it. My theme
plays a quiet "strum" that would hardly be heard over the RTTY and monitor I
usually listen to at the same time. Don't contest with DX4

I have just bought a FlexRadio 6500 and it is working well with DX4Win,
except that it does not send the / in CW it just ignore it. any suggestion
about how to fix this?

Thank you for all the responses.
I now know %X/%e are valid macro tokens used to switch on/off FSK
transmission in the DX4Win GUI for MMTTY.
However the "ding mystery" remains unsolved.
I have made the following observations:
The loudspeaker ding is associated with using the %X token
