[Dx4win] DX4WIN Updates
I believe I’ve seen a couple of comments on this the past month or so but have never really seen an answer to my knowledge. I’m running version 9.0.7.1230 on a windows 10 computer. The past month or so when trying to update the data bases in DX4WIN I run into an issue, I click on help/check for updates. The DX4WIN Update Status box appears and is blank under the files tab. I click on OK below and it comes back and says “No Updates were Installed”. I’m just not seeing any updates. I know there has been two updates as I’ve seen the email from Jim saying so. I thought I just read another user having this same issue last week and Paul said the last update went out October 16. Any ideas of why I am not seeing the updates now? Everything else appears to work normally in the program. Thank you, Brian - NX0X Sent from my iPad __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] Disaster
Carol Check to see what file your log is in. Open SAVE AS window and look what folder your .DXL log is shown in. It should be in the DX4WIN/SAVE file. But sometimes when working with importing contest files this will get changed to something dealing with your contest files. For example, your SAVE AS file may open to your WRITELOG/N1MM, etc folder instead of DX4WIN/SAVE. This frequently happens to me when I import my contest adif files from ADIF2DXQ. My SAVE AS save folder gets changed to the adif2dxn folder. I know how and why this happens and then reset the SAVE AS to look at the SAVE folder. Yes I know I can save the result of my adif2dxn conversion to the SAVE folder but I do it my way. You can also type (yourcall).dxl in the windows search box and see what locations it may be found. HINT: Before I make changes to my log (import contest files, export to LOTW, etc) I place a thumb drive in my PC USB slot. Then I open the SAVE AS/SAVE folder. I right click on the DXL file and a drop down menu opens. I click on SEND TO and send a copy of the current DXL file to the thumb drive to keep it safe.. The only way to do this, as far as I know, is to start a new log using the same name as your regular log. DX4WIN keeps various backup copies of your log; see on-line help in the section “files” —Paul On Tue, Oct 29, 2019 at 6:55 PM Jim Rhodes wrote: > Before you do anything else! [Dx4win] FW: Global Removal of LCnf Status?
Just want to close the loop on this one. I received an off-reflector note from Mel, SM0MPV, telling me how to perform the change I asked about in my original note. His solution was spot-on and much appreciated. For the sake of anyone else who may one day be searching the archives with a similar problem, the solution is as follows: 1. Access FILTER --> SEARCH (F8) in the QSO window 2. Enter the start date in the date field (you will be prompted for end date when enter is pressed) 3. Press ENTER 4. In the LoTW pulldown menu (also in the QSO window) select CLEAR LoTW CONFIRMED. I never even knew this menu item existed. I probably read about it in the manual at one point, but it's a case of never needing it before and doing the same 'ol thing the same 'ol way for too long. There are undoubtedly features on my rig and household appliances I don't know about as well - but I still feel stupid after seeing how easy this was. Now if I only knew what I did to mess the log up in the first place. Not sure how, but I have managed to show all of my FT8 QSOs as LoTW confirmed (LCnf = Y) in DX4WIN. As near as I can tell, it's only the FT8 QSOs but I have not performed an exhaustive search to be sure other modes are not affected. I'd like to correct this by removing all the Y's in the LCnf column beginning with the effective start date of my current call, then downloading the "Download Report" from LoTW using the same start date. Can someone walk me through how to easily remove all of those LCnf Y's in DX4WIN using a given start date?
