[Dx4win] FW: DX4Win UPDATES?
Hello DX4winners, It is such a shame that a select few who send offending messages can kill the contributions made by Paul as well as others in our hobby. Paul.. If you are listening, you have a wide number of appreciative followers who vastly outnumber those who have been rude to you. Unfortunately, common courtesy is gradually eroding in our world. Paul, regardless of your decision about the future of DX4WIN, you have my personal thanks and well wishes. ~ Bill W8NN Original Message- On 3/9/2016 03:52, Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ via DX4WIN wrote: > Hi Andy, > I, and others, have been asking the same question several times here, but there was never any response. [Dx4win] Brother/DX4WIN Label Editor values
I have searched the archives and Google for information regarding DX4WIN Label editor settings for the Brother QL-700 label printer with no success. I have tried the settings from Jim's support article on the Dymo Printer. Also, I have tried for a number of hours experimenting with various combinations of settings. I continue to get error messages from the Brother software that it did not accept the label dimensions coming from DX4WIN. I have tried the 1.1 x 3.5 inch and the 1.1 x 2.4 inch labels with no success. Any help will be so appreciated... [Dx4win] CI-V, PW1 and DX4WIN
Please join me in commending K8UT for the extensive testing and analysis of the CI-V PW1 issues. I have been a DX4WIN user and loyal fan since its introduction at Dayton many years ago. I am using DX4WIN with an ICOM 756PRO3 and a recently purchased PW1. My main issues have been described by K8UT: Random errors in frequency reporting to the software and the annoying clacking relays in the PW1 while rotating the PRO3 frequency knob. Fortunately, I have not had a hot switch catastrophe. I am currently running TRANSCIEVE=OFF in the PRO3 as a temporary stopgap measure. However, if one changes bands from the PRO3 front panel and does not wait to transmit (sometimes up to 10 seconds) there could be a band mismatch between the transceiver and amplifier. Not good. Be Careful! My sincere hope is that Paul would be kind to us and implement some or all of K8UT's suggestions. Yes, I am convinced that this is a PW-1 design fault and not the responsibility of logging software providers to implement patches to correct ICOM's deficiencies. However, I doubt that ICOM will retrofit the existing firmware in all our PW1 amplifiers. In that light, Paul, your loyal fans need and would greatly appreciate your kind help! I believe that at least one of the patches recommended by K8UT would not be difficult. That patch would involve having the software send out the broadcast command which would reset the PW1's asynchronous ten second timer before it fires. Sending this along with the DX4WIN two second poll would certainly correct many of our problems. Paul, Thank you for considering this request from your appreciative user/fans. DX4WIN is great! 73, Bill W8NN (W8HVX when DX4WIN was introduced) __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

[Dx4win] WMR RigTalk slow response time
I recently purchased a West Mountain Radio RigTalk USB to C-IV interface. This unit was bought to replace (or backup) my Radio Shack scanner interface which has been controlling my Icom IC756ProIII with good (fast response) for several years, via DX4WIN. After installing the RigTalk (on a new com port) per the WMR directions, the unit will control the radio but with VERY slow response. The WMR driver shows up in Device Manager/Ports. It takes 3 to 4 seconds for the Icom to respond to a frequency change using the tuning dial or a band change. I have turned the Band Map on and off with no improvement. Conversely, the Radio Shack interface shows almost instantaneous response when installed. A call to WMR yielded two suggestions: Try assigning yet another, different comport. Try a different logging program 8(... Neither suggestion eliminated the RigTalk delay problem. Conditions: DX4WIN 8.04 IC756ProIII Icom PW-1 amplifier (daisy chained with IC ProIII C-IV) Both radio and comport set to 9600 baud CW keying done by LPT port Pentium 1.3 GHz computer USB 2.0 ports Windows XP home with SP 3 USB Printer USB Mouse Any experience/suggestions would be greatly appreciated here or direct to w...@charter.net. [Dx4win] DXCC Submission
Hello and thanks in advance. I just upgraded from 5.03 to 7.01 all works fine except: I have made many DXCC submissions using 5.03. With 5.03, each time I made a submission the program remembered what had been credited previously and only included the records I had individually marked for submission in the QSO window. Now when I try to make a submission using 7.01 it seems to start fresh and include hundreds of QSOs for which I have already been credited. I am missing a setting or something?
