That is correct:

ModeSubMode
MFSKFT4

That is what is showing in my DXWIN Log for FT4 QSOs.

Also when uploading the DX4WIN log to LOTW (for example) a QSO is correctly
showing as a FT4 QSO:

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win Conflict with WSJT

2024-02-21 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
To log WSJT-X contacts into DX4WIN:

I am using a separate program called Macro Recorder.

What it does is create a Macro that records all the moves one has to take to
manually import the WSJT-X Log into DX4WIN.

Once that is done (the creation of a specific Macro) it takes no more than a
few seconds to import into DX4WIN.

I have one button on the keyboard (in my case the UP button) that activates the
specific macro. You can see all the "moves" of the mouse and the various
windows as it runs through the steps to process it (importing the WSJT-X log
into DX4WIN).

Again, this all happens within a few seconds with one push of the UP button.

Keith;

How do you log to DX4WIN from WSJT-X?  Manually?  One of the reasons why I
stopped using DX4WIN was for the fact I couldn't figure out how to log my Q's
without having to import the log each and every time from WSJT-X.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win Conflict with WSJT

2024-02-21 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
Here is the way I do it.by avoiding the conflict in the first place.

I run DX4WIN and WSJT-X side by side on my computer screen. DX4WIN on the left
and WSJT-X on the right.

Now here is the main point: Go to the RADIO menu listing in the upper left
corner of DX4WIN. Drop down the menu and hit STOP RADIO. That will stop DX4WIN
from accessing your rig.

WSJT-X is then the only program running with the rig.

Every other function of DX4WIN still works (other than rig access) and WSJT-X
is right there on the screen also doing its thing.

To each his own but this works for me.

WSJT at the same time as DX4Win. I see the previous references to Yaesu's
Win4yaesusuite but didn't bother because I see nothing to tell me this software

I have also followed the suggestion to look at N6TV's latest on comports, page

Re: [Dx4win] DX4W and WSJT conflicts

2023-10-07 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
I can run them side by side (DX4WIN and WSJT-X) on the screen but here 's the
catch.

Since they both must use the same port (in my case COM 6) for CAT control of
the rig one must be "off" and the other on.

DX4WIN has a way to take the CAT offline. In the upper left menu see RADIO and
scroll down to STOP RADIO.

WSJT can then remain on CAT control on the right side of my screen.

So DX4WIN and WSJT are both on the screen but DX4WIN is not on CAT control so
they don't conflict.

Unfortunately, the opposite is not true. WSJT has no way to turn off the CAT
control.

Therefore, I must shut down WSJT completely and turn the CAT control back on
for DX4WIN.

Wish WSJT had a way to stay running and turn off the CAT control (like I can do
on DX4WIN) but it doesn't.

Is what it is.

Or again, use a Virtual Serial Splitter. I'm using LPB2. It's free. I run
multiple apps SIMULTANEOUSLY.my assigning "virtual" ports via that splitter
software. That way, I can run many apps .to the ONE port (the enhanced
port) to the radio. I assign "virtual" portsIE 8, 9, 10etc.that run
SIMULTANEOUSLY. That way, there is no conflict.

Subject: Re: [Dx4win] WSJT-X integration with DX4WIN

Here is a new trick that some of us may already be using.

After suggesting to Paul that we needed full integration between WSJT-X and
DX4WIN (like is done with MMTTY) for two or three years with no results, I
decided to take matters into my own hands. I primarily needed some way to
quickly execute the import routine whenever I want to import the adif log
file from WSJT-X into DX4WIN. This is especially important during major
openings on 6 meters. Just this past week I worked 56 South American
stations during a big two hour opening, and I was constantly going through
the long routine of importing the WSJT-X log into DX4WIN by hand. I have
done this hundreds if not thousands of times over the past three years. I
often want to import a 6M FT8 QSO quickly into DX4WIN so that I can then
immediately send a spot using the Alt A routine. I also want to confirm if
I worked the country and or station before and possible do a lookup via
QRZ.COM.

For the past few weeks, I have been playing with the idea of using some kind
of a keystroke or mouse click recorder to record the long series of clicks
that are required to import the WSJT-X log file into DX4WIN. I tried two
free apps, AutoHotKey and AutoIt, with no success-they were too complicated
and I am not a programmer. Yesterday, I stumbled upon an app called Macro
Recorder, and I spent the almost $50 to download and try the standard
edition.

Link to Macro Recorder website: https://www.macrorecorder.com/

Within a few minutes, I successfully recorded a script, edited the script to
fine tune it and deployed it on my main logging computer. Now, when I
complete a QSO in WSJT-X, instead of clicking on the OK button as it pops up
in the Log QSO window, I merely press one key - the Insert key. This
immediately triggers a mouse click on the OK button to log the QSO in WSJT-X
and then immediately executes the complete series of mouse buttons required
to import the WSJT-X ADIF log file into DX4WIN. Presto! The new QSO logged
in WSJT-X is immediately imported and entered into DX4WIN. Again, all I now
have to do is press the Insert key and the new QSO is logged into WSJT-X and
automatically imported into DX4WIN. The whole process takes about one
second or two. Progress. The macro appears to work across my dual monitors
with no problem, but it does require that you keep all of your open windows
for WSJT-X and DX4WIN in the same position. I never move mine.

I am not sure if the reflector will allow me to insert an image. I have
made a copy of the script as it appears in Macro Recorder in case anyone is
interested. If the image does not make it, just email directly and I will
send it to you. I might add that when you minimize Macro Recorder, it
remains open as a hidden icon. It is always there in the background waiting
for me to hit the Insert key. You can assign the hotkey to be any key that
you prefer. Someone else may be able to do the same thing with the free
apps like AutoHotKey or AutoIt (and there are many others), but I found
Macro Recorder to be much friendly and intuitive for a non-programmer like
me. And someone may be able to improve and streamline my script. I am new
to Macro Recorder and I may be missing a few tricks to make it perform even
better.

The ultimate and obviously more elegant solution would be for Paul to create
a seamless interface between WSJT-X and DX4WIN just like he did for MMTTY
many years ago. As we all know, virtually all logging programs today
interface with WSjT-X. DX4WIN is one of the few that doesn't. In the
meantime, this new macro recorded script is very handy and will help me
tremendously during the coming 6 meter E season. Again, if you cannot see
the image of the script below, please email me directly and I will sent it
to you. Ironically, I would gladly pay $50 for Paul to release a new
version of DX4WIN with WSJT-X fully integrated. This trick will at least
get me through the summer.

Re: [Dx4win] Importing FT4 QSO confirmations from the LoTW

2021-04-17 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB

All of my imported FT4 QSO's from LOTW are confirmed. I use DX4WIN 9.09.1259
also.

When importing the lotwreport.adi file into DX4WIN make sure the Options for
duplicate QSOs window says: "imported QSO sets Lotw Confirmed flag"

For example: I just imported a lotwreport.adi report today into DX4WIN and it
set all recent FT4 QSOs to LOTW confirmed.

The LOTW notation for each FT4 QSO is showing a "Y" under the Cnfm window block
in DX4WIN.

Subject: [Dx4win] Importing FT4 QSO confirmations from the LoTW

Hi,

after importing the file of confirmed QSOs from the LoTW, I noticed that
no confirmations of FT4-QSOs are shown in DX4WIN. Instead, all these
FT4-QSOs are marked with the identifier "X" in the NOTFOUND file,
despite the identical date, time and callsign in DX4WIN and LoTW.

When I looked through the export and import files, I noticed the
following: In DX4WIN as well as in the export to the LoTW the FT4-QSOs
are marked as mode "MFSK" and submode "FT4". However, the ARRL web
service for querying LoTW confirmations only returns the mode (MFSK),
but not the submode. This is also specified in
https://lotw.arrl.org/lotw-help/developer-query-qsos-qsls/. It looks
like the missing submode field leads to a negative QSOs match when
importing the confirmed QSOs in DX4WIN.

DX4WIN Version is 9.0.9.1259. Can other DX4WIN users confirm this behavior?

I know that it is possible to set all FT4 QSOs manually to "LoTW
confirmed" using the function "Check log against imported log", however
with many FT4-QSOs this is time consuming, so any fix to the problem is
appreciated. Possibly this behavior may also occur with other
MFSK-submodes, which I have not yet checked.

Re: [Dx4win] Set Startup Speed on new WinKey Mini (WKmini) CW keying interface

2021-03-19 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
Randy:

First, thank you for the configuration info below. Here is the CW Section of
my Config file in DX4WIN:

[CW]
hardware_cwdevice=WinKey
Hardware_WinKeyPort=COM7
Hardware_DTRAction=None
hardware_PTTDelay=0
hardware_radio1or2=None
hardware_radio1or2Reversed=0
Hardware_RTSAction=None
speed=26
immediate=1
marquee=1
showfunc=1
sidetone=0
weight=105

The speed=26 was added and loaded.

Your question: "When you open up the CW Keyboard window in DX4WIN, does it show
26 wpm or something else?"The answer is the CW Keyboard Window always
starts at 60 WPM. The addition of the speed=26 parameter in the Config file
is having no effect on the startup.

When I was using the previous WinKey (it has a speed setting knob on the front
of it) I could set the speed to 26 and the CW Keyboard window would start up at
26.

Now, with the WKmini there is no speed control knob on it. Therefore all speed
is controlled strictly by the software.

Bottom line: I am operational. The only issue is with the WKmini the DX4WIN CW
Keyboard window is always starting up at 60 WPM and I have to manually use the
ALT-F9 (Down Speed) and ALT-F10 (Up Speed) to set the speed I want for that
session.

When the DX4WIN program is shut down and then starts up again, the CW Keyboard
window is always starting at 60 WPM. Therefore, the changes to the Config file
(speed=26) are having no effect on startup.

Sounds like the initialization code in DX4WIN, then. I'm using the WinKey chip
built into my microHAM MK2R+, and it behaves properly. Not sure why the mini
should be any different. When you open up the CW Keyboard window in DX4WIN,
does it show 26 wpm or something else? When I write out a config file and look
at it, it has a section called [CW]. One of the entries in that section is
"Speed=xx". You might try going into File > Preferences > File > Write
configuration file > Save changes and exit to save your current setup. Close
DX4WIN and open up the resulting config. txt file. Find the [CW] section and
edit it to say "Speed=26". Then restart DX4WIN and do File > Preferences > Load
configuration file. This should work. Try closing DX4WIN and restarting. If the
default speed isn't correct then that would say the program isn't properly
writing the default speed into the config.dat file when it closes. That would
be a matter of programming to fix.

Not sure about the Mini, but I've used the utility found on the K1EL website to
configure a WinKey USB. I would expect you could use it to connect to the WK
mini and set the startup (or at least the minimum) speed.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN + WSJT-X COM Port Control

2021-02-04 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
I run DX4WIN and WSJT-X side by side on the screen.

However, like you I have never found a way to have both programs get access to
the transceiver (CAT Control) at the same time. Yes, I tried the various port
sharing and splitting programs with the same results you did.

Therefore, I operate in a compromise. With both programs side by side, I use
the Stop Radio command in DX4WIN to stop the program from accessing the port
(CAT control). DX4WIN and all its other functions are still on the screen, it
just isn't accessing the rig.

I then use WSJT-X to the full extent with its access to the port and CAT
Control.

If I want to go on CW or other modes using DX4WIN, I must close WSJT-X
completely and then Start Radio on DX4WIN. Unfortunately, there is no similar
Stop Radio command in WSJT-X, so I must close the program completely.

Yes, it is a compromise but it works for me.

Re: [Dx4win] upload to LoTW problem from DX4WIN

2019-08-16 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
You don't have a "problem", you are just not going far enough in the process.
The DX4WIN "Export to LOTW" does not actually export the file to Logbook of the
World. All it does is create an .ADIF file on your computer.

That .ADIF file must then be authenticated using the TQSL program with your
certificate and THAT does the actual upload to LOTW.

So, if you are fortunate enough to still have those .ADIF files in your
Documents, then authenticate them one by one with TQSL and correctly upload to
LOTW.

Here is what I have:

Keyer Mode: Iambic A Pin 5 Config: 5=PTT Priority: Normal Hang

There are other Mode Register settings below that but those are for the spacing

[Dx4win] DX4WIN and WJST-X/FT8

2019-03-15 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
Actually it is very easy to find:

On the WSJT-X program itself look at File (upper left corner) then Open File
Directory.

Most likely it will open to the Appdata > Local > WSJT-X directory on your
computer.

The file you are looking for is wsjtx_log.adi

That is the program's log of FT8 QSOs. You would chose that file to import
into DX4WIN as an ADIF file.

1) Manually transfer the info to DX4WIN after the radio connection times

Re: [Dx4win] JTDX and/or WSJT

2019-02-06 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
At the moment, I am not aware of any ability to DIRECTLY have WSJT log into
DX4WIN.

However, here is how I do it.

I run DX4WIN and WSJT on FT8 at the same time, side by side on the screen, and
both using a shared COM port (in my case, COM5) for CAT control.

I have WSJT log the contacts I make on FT8. That creates an .adi log file. I
then created a shortcut icon on the desktop that references the WSJT directory
for the log.

Now, I simply tell DX4WIN to File/Import and look for the desktop Icon
containing the WSJT log. Tell it to Open that icon and it will import my WSJT
FT8 contacts into the DX4WIN log !

The whole process takes about 15 seconds. Yes, it is not exactly what you are
looking for but it does work.

In other words, DX4WIN and WSJT side by side and logging.

Hope that gives you at least an alternative.

Subject: [Dx4win] JTDX and/or WSJT

Hi all
I am not a programer (by far...) but I wonder if it would be difficult
to add the possibilitry to log directly into DX4Win ,from either JTDX or
WSJT ?
Would it be an easy modification, and is the issue in DX4Win or in those
digital modes programs ?

Thanks + 73

Re: [Dx4win] Latest FT-5000 RIG Fille

2018-12-23 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
Mine is working on a FTDX5000 MP Limited just fine using the following settings:

FTDX5000 00 Hex 38400 BaudPoll Rate 500 Max tries 3RTS High

My other suggestion is to double check the Baud Rate setting of the COM Port
you are using. Use Windows Device Manager to check it and change it to 38400
if needed.

If the COM port is set to default 9600 that may be an issue. I changed the
Com Port baud rate to 38400.

***Also make sure to set the rig's Menu 32 GENE CAT BPS to 38400 to match the
Com port. The default on the radio is only set at 4800.

In other words, make sure everything matches.

Like I said, mine works fine here with those settings on still on Version 1.1
of the rig file.

Hi Steve,

You don't say which version of DX4WIN you are running. Did the radio used to
work? A radio (.rig) file doesn't just stop working.

The hex value only applies to ICOM radios, not Yaesu. 38.4K may be the correct
baud rate, I don't remember. It sounds like the COM port in your computer
(virtual or physical) has stopped working, or the cable between the computer
and the radio is bad. If the radio times out, the radio (.rig) file is *not*
deleted. I don't remember ever seeing that wording in the message.

This can also happen if you leave DX4WIN running in real-time entry mode (F9)
and turn off the radio.

Do you have any other software that works with that radio you can use to verify
the COM port and cable?

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN

2018-12-19 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
Try the following:

Using Windows Device Manager make sure the specific COM Port (Your USB cable
with the chipset) is configured for 38400 baud 8N1. You can even modify the
COM Port number here if you want.

NOTE: In the FT DX 5000 itself, set Menu 032 GENE CAP BPS to 38400

In DX4WIN:

Set rig at FT DX 5000, 38400 baud (default), the default polling is 1000 ms
and 5 Max tries. ***Obviously set it to the Com Port number you determined
above for USB cable/chip.

Usually both DTR and RTS are off, but you may also want to try DTR High.

Mine works here.

Using Win 10 current version, Yaesu FTdx5000, and cannot get them to talk to
each other. Using the serial port on the 5000, an RT Systems USB-63 cable
w/the FD-11 chipset, and a USB connector on the other end. I’m assuming I
have a comport assignment problem. Is there a specific comport number,
speed, etc that I should be using for each? Tnx/73 Steve k...@charter.net
