[Dx4win] any help for dx4win?
Since I installed a new windows 11 on a new hard drive and downloading DX4WIN to it and also copying my license from my windows 10 hard drive DX4WIN will not let me save QSO's. It keeps telling that it is not licenses? I copied the license file from W10 to the C:dx4win location in the W11 HD and also, just in case, installed the license to the save folder. Still says can't save QSO's. Any help would be appreciated. I upgraded to Windows 11 as a new install on a separate HD and I copied my license from the W10 HD to the save file of the W11 HD but it still says no license? Any help would be appreciated. Have just done V9 upgrade and everything seems OK, except I can't edit the CW window messages. When I right click on the body I do not get the 'pop up menu' at all. Anyone else encounter this or have a suggestion? [Dx4win] no FT8 solved
I wasn't' s looking at the upper end of the mode selections when logging a QSO but rather moving down to the F8 selections. [Dx4win] new version 9 problem
I upgraded to V9 of DX4WIN. NO problem till I tried to set the baud rate for my Kenwood TS990S. I had the baud rate set to 19200 in V8 and it connected to my rig fine. Now that I'm up and running V9 the "preferences", "radio" is fixed at 9600 baud. I cannot set it to 19200 like V8 allowed. I get a "bong" when I click in the baud window. Any suggestions? [Dx4win] confused about log file
I am confused about how DX4WIN handles a log file that I made and currently have loaded with only the contacts starting with 01/2015. The log file with only 2015 contacts are in and fine but DX4WIN is still keying on my log from the very beginning of 2002 for spot colors/numbers? I want DX4WIN to only key on the log I have loaded which are Q's from 01/2015 to current? The spot and other contacts are still keying on my log from 2002. How do I tell DX4WIN to use the current loaded log which has Q's starting from 2015 to populate the spot window and the others window not the log file from 2002 to present? I'm trying to work DXCC starting with 2015 which is the log I have loaded. Thanks. [Dx4win] problem with split mode
I am using a Kenwood TS-990 with the latest software version of DX4WIN. This morning I clicked on a 80 meter CW spot (3.527 split 3.528) that indicated a split frequency. I went to memory 1 to send my call in CW and WOW I heard W2YJ in LSB. You can imagine my surprise and embarrassment. Till I figure this out I'll have to pay attention to the mode on VFO B. I have the 80 meter CW cut-off set up in the DX4WIN parameters for 3.6Mhz CW cut-off. Is this a TS-990 problem or a TS-990 rig file problem. Anyone have an idea? [Dx4win] anyone notice frequency change?
I'm using DX4WIN, the latest version, and a Kenwood TS-990. The 990 is connected to my computer and controlled by DX4WIN. I notice that when I click on a spot and have the TX MSG invoked to send what is in one of the memories by pushing the TX then CH1-6 button the mode and or split does not change when clicking on a spot? If I am not in the memory transmit mode all works fine. Is this a function of the 990 locking out the B VFO frequency change and AB mode change? Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks. [Dx4win] DX4WIN getting cranky?
I've noticed since I've updated to Windows 8.1 that sometimes, not all the time, when I click on the X to shut down DX4WIN it does not shut down. All the windows turn a pale grey and it just sits there. In order to shut down DX4WIN in this state I have to do an END TASK in the task manager. Anyone else noticing this? [Dx4win] true RTTY with my laptop?
I want to run true FSK RTTY with MMTTY and DX4WIN on my laptop computer but I can't get the MMTTY program to wiggle the FSK frequency with my USB to RS232 FTDI-A36 cable. It will key my Icom 756 Pro2 but no FSK wiggle. Is there a USB to RS232 (serial DB9) dongle out there that will do this, model and where to buy? I'd like to do the true FSK vs. AFSK if possible with my laptop which of course, does not have a serial DB9 port. Thanks. [Dx4win] FT 5000/MicroKeyer/DX4WIN
Due to an 'event', I had to reprogram everything. Strictly CW for MK. Currently, Winkey is fine, PTT is good, and 'Router' reads the VFO frequencies. CAT light on 5K blinking, albeit slightly irregularly. If I click on a packet spot on the main window I get 'Do you want to save qso you just added?' I click 'NO' and the spot info is loaded correctly into the QSO window. But radio does not qsy. I also continue to get radio timeout messages. It worked a few times the other day and since then without any changes I'm aware of, has not. [Dx4win] installed Windows 8.1 and OH NO!
I have been playing with the upgrade version of Windows 8.1 from 8.0. So far I'm not impressed and reverted back to W 8.0. I don't like the forced password to start my computer. I did find a app to automatically do this but 8.1 did not give me the no password option at least as I can find. I'm hard pressed to find the 8.1 does anything for the desk-top computer. Microsoft didn't even address the start button on the lower left. It's still not there? I found that when starting DX4WIN it takes 10 to 15 seconds to actually start where 8.0 is almost immediate. I also found that when I upgraded to 8.1 that my rotor will not activate when I press rotor, then, short path. I'm using the Hy-Gain DCU1 option as my rotor box is the Hy-Gain Tail-twister with the Idiom Press RS232 board which works fine with 8.0 and has been for years going back to Windows XP. All other connected devices such as my Kenwood TS-990S, SteppIR, Digital wattmeter LP-100A, Alpha 87A amp, Win Keyer work fine. It's just that rotor box that will not respond. I've tried all I could to get it to wake it up even trying a known good com port, no good. Thanks goodness I have a cloned a 8.0 hard drive and can boot back to it. All works well with 8.0. [Dx4win] DX4WIN with Kenwood TS-990
I found that with my new Kenwood TS-990 that the rig file 'Kenwood ts2000' works almost but. If course Paul has not updated the rig file to accommodate the TS-990 as it is so new. If I click on a spot and it is split the B vfo does not go to the proper mode. It stays where is was previously. Does anyone have any experience with editing the rig files in DX4WIN and help me correct this. Since there is no TS990 rig file I'm relegated to using the TS2000 rig file and hoping to correct the split problem in this rig file. I have the rig file opened in MS word but can't make heads or tails out of it. Is there a rig file primer out there somewhere, hi. :) Thanks. I've clicked on everything 6 meters in preferences and cannot get 6 to appear in the same call window or Country window or in my reports??? What else do I have to click on to get 6 to appear as a band? With the 6 openings I'm working Countries but I can't see if I've worked them before in the Country window. I'm running the latest version of DX4WIN, version 8.05 with W7. I've tried un-clicking and saving preferences and going back and clicking 6 and saving preferences, shutting down DX4WIN and re-starting it again, no help. Any suggestions? Thanks. In my preferences packet 3 I have 144mhz un-checked but I'm still getting 144Mhz spots in my packet window? Should DX4WIN be ignoring these 144Mhz spots and not indicating them in the packet window? OK what did I do now to my world screen. I can't even remember what I did to deserve this. I did something to zoom in and make the world map cover my whole display and covers up all the other windows. I've tried to zoom out with no help. I've tried Cntrl - no help. [Dx4win] Edit packet macro keys too short
I've discovered that I can do almost any type of filtering that I need for my operation while on the clusters I've found that allow complex filtering but. The Macro keys do not leave enough space for my rather lengthy filter commands. I wonder if these can be expanded? Is this a request for update by the author? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks. [Dx4win] screen spots from spotter?
Is there a way to screen off spots from a spotter using DX4WIN? There is a certain spotter that will go un-named, that spots DX spots that I can never hear anyway. It's annoying to me to get these spots. My ham friend says that his free logging program has this feature but I'm not ready to give up on DX4WIN as I like it. It could be included in the CONTROL of the PREFERENCES to send a CI-V command out a serial port and then be level converted to a CI-V cable to the PW-1. Or better still someone come up with a computer box that would convert the low going leads, per band, of the Orion-2 to an appropriate CI-V command that would be sent to the PW-1. [Dx4win] DX4WIN cant reduce CW speed?
I have been able to operate CW with my WinKey and DX4WIN in the CW window with the WinKey connected to a Com port. The past few days I can't slow down the key speed?? It loads at 55wpm and I use the - key and the CW window indicates 20wpm where I set it but it is still sending 55WPM? It works fine when I run Ham Radio Deluxe and it's DM780 program using the same WinKey box. I use my operation in a remote operation and I can't hear the CW when I'm running remote so the window says 20wpm and I'm assuming it's sending at 20wpm but it is going at 55wpm when I test it in the shack. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks. I'd like to export my whole log as an ADIF file. I know I use to do this but forgot. I only see the LOTW export method and I don't want to do that as I use that to create files to export to LOTW. [Dx4win] can DX4WIN export to a cabrillo format
I'm trying to export my CQ-WW log contacts to CQ and am having trouble converting DX4WIN's exported ADIF file to a Cabrillo format. I went to the CQ web page that had me paste my ADIF file exported from DX4WIN and they would convert it to Cabrillo for me but CQ robot returned a failure in line 5 no RST received. Does DX4WIN export an odd ADIF file that no one can convert? Thanks. [Dx4win] Orion 2 does not chang to correct mode when clicking on a split spot?
If I click on a packet cluster spot that is CW and split the A VFO goes to 800Hz, my preference and CW mode but the B VFO if it was in USB mode it stays in USB with 800Hz. What is going on here? [Dx4win] My Orion-2 is not acting right on a clicked spot?
I have done extensive tests using my logging program, DX4WIN, and I'm finding that the O2 does not revert to the proper mode and bandwidth when clicking on a packet spot. For instance, when I clicked on a 24.891.0Mhz CW spot which is split the A VFO goes to 24891.0 LCW 960 BW and the B VFO goes to 24892.4Mhz USB 960 BW??? Comon, I can't send CW in the split mode when the B VFO is in the USB mode. Is it a function of the DX4WIN logging program? Can anyone correct the RIG file in preferences ORION.RIG file to get it right? I also have without RIT selected. Going forward it's a crap shoot what the O2 will display when clicking on a spot. I've even seen CW 2400hz bandwidth selected on a CW spot??? What is going on here? Can anyone explain? Thanks. [Dx4win] DX4WIN my Orion II crap shoot
I have my Orion II connected to my computer and it is working fine with DX4WIN except when I click on a CW packet spot the O2 goes to CW and 2200hz filter. Also if I click on a SSB spot the O2 will go to SSB with a filter width of 500Hz? Hard to make out the words, hi. These are only a few examples. Basically, it's a crap shoot what I get when I click on a spot for filter width. Is there a way to convince the O2 when clicking on a SSB spot to go to 2200Hz or CW 500Hz? I am using the ORION.RIG file. I use the packet cluster for DX'ing and this is annoying. I'd hope that the ORION.RIG file would take care of this but I guess not. Thanks. [Dx4win] WX4WIN packet arrival time and log time wrong?
I have migrated to a new computer and ever since the packet arrival time is like 3 hours behind. When I work a station that I clicked on in the packet window it is logged with the wrong time? My system clock is fine and is set correctly. When a spot comes in it is marked 190 minutes rather than 1 minute or so. I migrated to Windows 7 64 bit operating system. DX4WIN seems to running fine but I have to get this time error thing corrected. As it is all my contacts for the last few days have the wrong logged time so I have to delete them. I am running version 8.05 of DX4WIN. Can anyone help me? I found the time error problem with my DX4WIN that I explained in my previous EMAIL to the group. I had the wrong time zone set in my system clock. The time was correct but the time zone was set for the West coast and I live in NY which is in the Eastern time zone. Sorry for the bandwidth. [Dx4win] Re-loaded version 8.05 now packet window spot time not correct
I had to re-load DX4WIN version 8.05 yesterday due to a HD failure and now I cannot get the packet spots received to indicate the arrival instead of the actual time. I right clicked on the packet window and highlighted SORT and chose arrival as I always did and the spots indicate the actual time in hours, minutes. In the past when I chose ARRIVAL it would indicate the aged minutes the spot was received. I still have 8.04 on the computer and tried it and it acts fine in this regard. I noticed that when a spot is displayed such as the VP8ORK on my packet spot window and another spot comes in for the same call/same band the previous spot is wiped. How can I tell DX4WIN not to wipe this previous spot. I like to see all the spots for the same call on the same band. I set my 160M CW cut off in my preferences and for some reason it disappears after a few days? Somewhat of a mystery to me? No other band 80 through 6M experiences this only 160M? When I worked CE9PA3EXX an hour ago and mis-typed the QSL manager and entered it into my log I tried to go back and correct my mis-typed QSL manager for this contact and I can't? [Dx4win] DX4WIN communicating with my FT-5000 fixed
I have resolved my problem with trying to get DX4WIN to communicate with my new Yaesu FT-5000. It was the serial cable I made up that I assumed pins 2 and 3 should have a flop from end to end. I should not have been a nul modem type cable! When I redid the cable to have pin 2 go to pin 2 and the same with pin 3 it fired right up and worked fine. I also had a number of fine hams send me the Yaesu FT-9000 rig file which I am using. Thanks to all that responded with help. [Dx4win] Packet spots spotter State identity
I was getting together a VHF packet cluster spot setup for a ham friend who has no internet connectivity at his cabin and when I got it going I noticed a very helpful identity on its spots. The state of the spotter (where he is currently) was noted on the far right side of the spot. I looked at my DX4WIN which is the latest version and I didn't see this very useful identification? As an example I saw a spot by a K3 station for a DX station. When I went to the frequency I heard nothing. A check on QRZ.COM had shown that the K3 station was really in Az. Does DX4WIN support this in its packet spot window? If so how do I get it to indicate such? Thanks. [Dx4win] CI-V clashing problem
While I was able to skirt the clashing CI-V data problem with DX4WIN and my PW1 working with my IC-7600 I tried Logger32 logging program. What I see is logger32 does not suffer the problem that DX4WIN does with clashing data. When running logger32 logging program I can see the frequency in its QSO window change as I turn my 7600's VFO dial but never see bogus frequency displayed in logger32 QSO window. I can't figure out why logger32 runs fine and DX4WIN has the clashing CI-V data problem. Anyone know what the difference could be and maybe DX4WIN could do the same thing? Thanks. [Dx4win] IC-7600 USB CIV communications problem
I've solved the problem with data clashes between DX4WIN and my Icom PW1 amp and the IC-7600 rig by modifying the 7600 rig file in DX4WIN to stop DX4WIN from polling the 7600 for frequency but I'm not satisfied. DX4WIN forces me into CIV data addresses in the preferences radio files for the 7600. Since my PW1 and DX4WIN are forced to have the same CIV address that's where the problem lies. Data clashes. The IC-7600 only has a USB to computer interface and does not have a RS232 like the 7700 or the 7800 which do not utilize CIV addresses. Since the 7600 menu choices for USB serial function are CI-V or DECODE would 'decode' help if I could get DX4WIN to answer to decode? What is decode anyway? The 7600 book says DECODE: outputs decoded contents in ASCII code format. Could DX4WIN respond to the ASCII format of the USB output when setting the menu to DECODE? Maybe a different rigs rig file would work? I'm not a computer geek so this is a hunt and peck fixem for me. Thanks. [Dx4win] Saving QSO puts wrong band?
When I click on a spot and then work that station and hit enter DX4WIN has begun putting the wrong band in when the QSO is stored. What could be the problem? I have even caught it putting in 23CM in for the band and nowhere is 23CM checked in preferences. I have 20M and SSB checked in the defaults for new QSO in preferences. Thanks. [Dx4win] WAY to confirm ARRL confirmed in QSL window?
Is there a way to indicate in the QSL window the QSO's that are submitted, and confirmed, in my ARRL LOTW award matrix? If not, it would be nice to see an entry in the QSL window that shows the QSO's that have been submitted and confirmed by the ARRL and in my award matrix. Thanks. [Dx4win] shrinking windows
I'm running version 8.03 of DX4WIN and every time I start up DX4WIN I get a slight shrinking of the windows? I call it the tale of the shrinking windows, hi. I do have leave all windows in their original position checked in screen, preferences. I'm running Vista Business. Any ideas? Thanks. [Dx4win] upgraded to Vista issues with 8.02?
I upgraded my computer from XO to Vista and now version 8.02 is having issues with reading the .TCP file in the associated SAVE folder. When I look at the file with notebook I see the keep alive |3 at the end of a entry. When I click on the packet window in DX4WIN the entries do not contain the |3 that I put there??? I have reverted to version 8.01 and it reads the .TCP file in it's save folder just fine. Also, why all of a sudden did an L show up for my latest contact with EY7AF in the listings, and other contacts window? I see that DX4WINhelp is no longer available in Vista. [Dx4win] lotwreport_notfound file
So I did my bi-monthly or there a bouts of a down-load report from LOTW and then import it into my DX4WIN log to receive my confirmed LOTW QSL's. In the past DX4WIN versions I may have one or two not founds. I'm on the latest version 8.02 and after performing these steps DX4WIN created a whopping 8 pages of not founds. I looked at the first page of these and they are found, and LOTW confirmed as I would expect Everything look fine to me. I hesitate wasting anymore time verifying these bogus not founds. What happened? Did I do something wrong? [Dx4win] LOTW always marked N on new logged contacts?
When I log a new DX contact the LOTW flag is always marked N? I have to go back and change those new contacts to Y to do a export for LOTW. What is the fix for this? Thanks. [Dx4win] My new Icom IC-7600 and my SteppIR interface, how to hook up???
Since I purchased the new Icom IC-7600 that has a computer USB interface I can't figure out how to interface my SteppIR control box with it's RS232 interface. The Com port assigned to the 7600 is a virtual com port interface for the 7600 using the USB interface. I'm using DWAIN for my logging program. In the past I used a Y cable that was between my rig and my computer and the SteppIR box. Anyone have an idea how I can get DX4WIN, 7600, and the SteppIR control box to change frequency or how it should be interfaced to my computer??? [Dx4win] Cant's print labels???
Don't see my EMAIL's getting through to this reflector??? Here is my problem with the latest version of DX4WIN and printing labels. I've tried every which way and just cannot get DX4WIN latest version to print labels. I filtered for the specific call I want to print multiple QSO's with, cleared the QSL date field and still when I try to print the labels are generic with no call and fictitious dates and times. Can anyone outline the steps to print labels? I've never had trouble with version 7 of DX4WIN. Thanks. I downloaded the current version of DX4WIN, 8.02. I followed the notes to a tee and when I start the program it still says 8.01??? What tricks am I missing in the upgrade? I don't recall having problems with my previous versions of DX4WIN where I sign onto a packet cluster and 10 minutes or so later it drops?? Is there a script that will keep alive the cluster connection within DX4WIN? Thanks. [Dx4win] Why LOTW FLAG and DATE setting seperate?
I just up-loaded 5 new QSO's to LOTW. First, I found that some of these QSO's had the LOTW flag marked Y. I hadn't even up loaded them yet? In version 7 I just filtered for N to get the QSO's that hadn't been up-loaded yet. Easy, yes. Second after marking these flags N, as I felt they should be, and then doing a search on the LOTW flag N I was ready to up-load these 5 QSO's to LOTW. I up-loaded these 5 QSO's to LOTW manually. All went fine until I returned to DX4WIN and went to the LOTW in the QSO window and set the LOTW flags. It set the flags but not the LOTW up-load date? I went back and set the LOTW flags back to N and went to LOTW in the QSO window and set the up-load date. This then did not set the LOTW up-load flag to Y? What am I doing wrong? I use to do this as two operations in version 7 with multiple operation for the date and then setting the flag to Y. Thanks. [Dx4win] dx spots stop coming in???
I have noticed lately, maybe to upgrading to DX4WIN version 7.07.02 that the spots mysteriously just stop coming in without any notice from the connected cluster. No warning, spots just stop coming in Any help would be appreciated. I am running DX4WIN and Time Warner Roadrunner internet connection behind a Dynex router. The other computer off the router is controlling a Echolink VHF link to our DX repeater. Thanks. THE COUNTRY WINDOW WILL NO LONGER POPULATE MY STANDINGS. ITS BEEN WORKING FINE UP TIL NOW. ALL THE DATA IS THERE, AS I CAN GENERATE THE INFO FROM THE REPORTS FILE WINDOW. [Dx4win] log window widths?
I can drag my column widths as I like them in my log book window but they do not stay in that width when I re-start my DX4WIN. Is there any way of fixing these widths as I like them and have them remain when I re-start DX4WIN? Thanks. [Dx4win] my new 7.06.02 log file Q's missing?
I upgraded to DX4WIN 7.06.02 last night. I had no problem with getting it running,but. The new program is missing many of my QSO's? I'm using the same log file that resides in my DX4WIN version 7.05. I run the old program with this log file and, there they are, all my Q's? The log file is fine. By the way, the new program appears to resolve the issue with the K3 not jumping to the correct mode when using the packet cluster clicking. [Dx4win] odd call can't enter
I want to input my contact with the US Navy call NAV-4. DX4WIN whines and won't let me enter that call. It says bad cal sign. Is there a way of over riding this? George W2YJ

Is there a way I can re-transmit incoming DX spots off the internet and re-transmit them out my TNC to my VHF transmitter? I'd like to send spots to my poor DX family in this area who only have dialup and don't want to tie up their phone line. Thanks. George W2YJ George W2YJ
[Dx4win] FT-2000 Rig Control
Hello All.. I've installed the FT-2000 driver, but a short time after either using Start Radio or just clicking on a spot I get Radio Timed Out Radio Interface Has Been Disabled In Help the only reference to Interface is the CW keyer interface. Anyone know what I am or am not doing? To my knowledge I'm doing just what I always did with DX4WIN with my other radios. Thanks in Advance, George K1MA
[Dx4win] MY_MULTIPLE_QSO_OPERATION_FIXED_BUT?
I resolved my multiple QSO set upload date by upgrading to version 7.02 but! Now my Orion 2 stays in transmit when I start the radio??? I have to stop the radio to get the Orion2 to stop transmitting. I lost my packet cluster spot clicks that would change the Orion2's frequency and the like, and the SteppIR control.. I've checked all the preferences 100 times and am out of ideas. It worked fine in 7.01 and now when I run 7.01 the same thing happens??? I never migrated any file from 7.02 to my 7.01 file so I don't think I could have screwed up the 7.01 files. Al else, packet and rotor control, seem to be working fine. Can anyone assist me? Thanks. Some samples i got would not take inkjet ink so well. So I got the local Staples store ( an office products supply store) to cut 81/2 X11 nice card stock into 3.5 x 5.5 cards... the card stock this morning was on sale ..125 sheets for 4.12, which cut into 500 cards.. they charged 6$ for the 3 cuts. So far about $10..for 500 cards... Then I use my hp laser to print most all the card except the call sign and the info. ( no additional costs) I use my epson inkjet to print my callsign in COLOR blue and then red (not to empty one color completely and prematurely killing the ink cartridge.) My card stock is grey and either color looks good. If I wish I can also print a contest note on the batchsame time as callsign. Then I run them as needed just printing the qsl info... I have been successful using generic ink cartridges from LD products for about 7-8 $ each... so I don't even worry. I printed 200 cards with blue qsl data yesterday , and the cartridge is still ok, I do use kostas's idea about printing on paper till you get in the zone, then fine tune. bill ny9h
