Yes, I would also like the option to turn off IOTA as the default when
spotting.

Jeffrey,

I do not think anything changed for a while making these announcements.

There is no option to set the defaults for the selections.

Re: [Dx4win] Announce DX

2017-11-11 Thread John Shaw
I have looked too and not found anything to do what you want. I would like
all those options in the announce window to stay unchecked too. Maybe Paul
could change it so if you uncheck or check the tick box it remembers your
selection and stays that way until the user changes it again. Some other
selections in the program work this way so must be able to be done.

The other thing that is tripping me up is the 5 spaces in the rst. I
understand why this was increased for digital stuff but maybe some smarts
could be done so that the extra spaces are only available for modes that
require them. Just a thought.

Is there a parameter that prevents the sending of IOTA / Island information
with a DX Announcement.

My system seems to default IOTA / Island and I must uncheck the box for each

I looked through the various Preferences tabs and don't see a setting.

Not sure what you are asking. Your TNC etc. would be nice to know.

Idea: "ECHO" is on the TNC so it is sending what you typed and you see if
go out (so you see it twice). Used to be an "ECHO OFF" command would remove
that.

Do not think anything in DX4WIN is wrong.

In the top portion will show the output received from the TNC or RTTY

Any time when I announce a DX station appear twice the announce.

Call Sign / MGR Lookup
File>preferences>ext.data change it to http://www.qrz.com/

It is better, if you have your old 602 dx4win to do this...
File>preferences>file>write ini file.
After that in the new dx4win 702
go agn there and merge ini file.
So all your previous preferences will be agn the same...

[Dx4win] Announce DX Question...another issue

2006-02-25 Thread Joe Giacobello
I have observed that if one sends a spot and the spotted station's
frequency is below the first KHz of the band bottom, the spot is not
displayed on the cluster. If I skew the station's frequency so it reads
out at 1.0 KHZ or higher above band bottom, the spot is displayed. At
least I have observed this quirk on 40M CW using both an Orion and
FTKMP. I haven't checked it on other bands or the top edge of the
band. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

I can't explain the call in the REMARKS column.

However...

DX4WIN captures the spot you send out and the one it gets back from
the cluster, but only keeps the LATEST spot. If your PC clock is
fast, or your cluster clock is slow, then it will keep the spot you
sent out, not the spot that people see on the cluster. That
particular spot will not have the SPOTTER callsign embedded in it,
it's of the format:

   DX AD1C 14000.3

i.e. it has not been reformatted by the cluster.

Does this make sense?

That's why it's important to keep your PC clock accurate, and the
sysop of the node you connect to to keep his PC clock accurate.

Receiving the spots in Dx4win works just fine. When I see the spot I have

remark column appended/following the remark without a spacewith the
spotter column left blank. I have tried other packet nodes in the past, with
