[Dx4win] Country error because of wrongly given callsign

2010-11-02 Thread David Gould
Just before the CQWW contest I worked F4BKV/BY7PP

When I enter this into DX4Win I get country as France and Zone 14.
A few hours later F4BKV was operating B7P in the contest in Zone 23.

Is the correct action just to change the country to BY for this QSO?

What would the recommended way be to send such a callsign?

Hi
When foreign operators operate in China, they have to give their
callsign first, followed by the callsign of the club station they use.
So it is indeed China, and yes, you may just change the country to BY in
the prefix box.
This is sort of an exception to the general rule that says that the
begining of the call is always the entity from which the QSL takes
place. Americans operating in Canada often use 5 I think they have to do
it this way) W1XYZ/VE3 while they theoritically should sign VE3/W1XYZ.
Maybe someone in Canada or USA can comment on the correct form to use in
these cases.

That call has already been added to the country file for the next
release. DX4WIN can get confused when the portable part is the same
length as the home call part, which in this case is 5 letters.
There are already a number of such calls in the country file, like the
recent VO1AU/BY1DX and VO1AU/BY1RX operations.
