[Dx4win] keying problem in Africa

2009-05-29 Thread Neil G0JHC

I am trying to help a friend in Africa. He currently uses
Logger32 and he is all interfaced with his Icom 7700 to send cw. He wants
to
purchase dx4win but 1st wants to get the cw keyer working.

The cw keying via K/B in logger32 works fine. He is using serial port CW
keying to a DB9, wired as in the help files diagram in DX4win.

Unfortunately He can't seem to get the correct settings to key in DX4win
CW window.

What on earth could I suggest he looks at next. He has tried every option
on the DTR/RTS parameters (cw keying/PTT control) and just gets at best a
continuous tone no cw, when trying to send.

Id appreciate a series of questions you guys would think useful from this
point forward to help home in on the problem.

Bearing in mind Logger32 works, I'm assuming it can only be a software
setting somewhere.

I'm a DX4WIN user, and have never used logger32, but downloaded it and had
it working in a minute, buy just copying my DX4WIN settings. Doing this the
other way round in Africa, doest seem to work.

Help appreciated.

[Dx4win] Keying problem in Canada

2009-05-29 Thread Mel
While we are on the subject of CW...

I'm using a MicroKeyer (Winkey) and it works perfectly with Writelog and
Logic... ( and a few other programs I have tried) but I have a problem
with DX4Win. When I start D4W it completely screws up the keyer... I
have found that I can usually restore sanity to it by going to the
Microkeyer router program and changing something in Winkey
Configuration, then changing it back. It seems to force a reset.
Annoying though...
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Any suggested solutions?

Re: [Dx4win] Keying problem in Canada

2009-05-29 Thread Mel
Setup here is almost the same except for a couple of checkboxes about
paddle dog and paddle echo... whatever that is...I did notice an obvious
error I had overlooked... I had Router set to Iambic-B ( correct) and
DX4Win set to Iambic-A (wrong). Maybe that was causing some issues.
DX4Win is the only program I was using with its own set-up dialog. Not
really necessary or desirable with the MicroKeyer.

Thanks for the help...

Hi Mel. I'm running the micro Keyer II with DX4WIN 7.07.02 and Winkey works
fine. Here's a PDF file of micro Keyer DX4WIN setup instructions which I
followed, and it works fine for me. You might compare the settings with
 yours. Good luck!

[Dx4win] Keying problem

2004-02-22 Thread John Kjos
Hi, I am using the printer port on my computer for CW keying during
contests. On 20 meters I am having some sort of problem. When I try and send
CW via the computer it locks the radio into transmit without sending
anything, just a carrier. As soon as I pull the cable out of the keying
jack, it stops. I am sure it is a RF problem somehow, as it only does it
with the amp in line running 1KW. 200 watts out of the radio it is fine. Any
suggestions on a remedy? Thanks- John W9RPM

John,

Yep--RF on the keying line. Try putting some ferrite beads on the line
near the PC end and it should go away!
