[Dx4win] lost packet window (found)

2019-12-23 Thread Ed Hughes
Thanks for the replies, I found the missing window by using the
procedure mentioned by John K9EL and also written up by Kostas at
https://www.mail-archive.com/dx4win@mailman.qth.net/msg21933.html.

Thanks again

I recall seeing info about a clickable box in
files>preferences>screen that
spoke to keeping or not keeping window positions. I think that
must have
been for older versions, I see no such box with ver 9. Is there
any such
setting in ver 9, as I have lost access to the packet window after
upgrading
from win 7 to 10 with dual monitors etc. I have my spots window,
but my
packet window is hiding somewhere. I don't really need it, as when
I bring
up Dx4Win I automatically log in to a cluster and start getting
spots, but I
would like to find the packet window :)

Re: [Dx4win] lost packet window

2019-12-23 Thread n4qs
This same thing happened to me this morning. I simply plugged in a wider
monitor and the missing Spot window came into view. I then moved the Spot
window into the center of the screen, unplugged the widescreen monitor and
then plugged in the monitor that is not as wide. The Spot window was right
there in the middle and I could move it to where I wanted.

Re: [Dx4win] lost packet window

2019-12-23 Thread Tim moore
When I added a second monitor and then later removed it, I lost both the
packet window and the spot window (which I'd moved both windows to the 2nd
monitor). I tried editing the config file like an earlier email suggested
to move the windows, but no joy. In the end, I had to reattach the second
monitor...move the 2 windows back to the first monitor, and then remove the
2nd monitor again.

2019-12-23 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello Ed,

The packet window is most likely hiding behind some other window. Once you
find it, write a new config.txt file. This is where the screen settings are
kept.

File > Preferences > File > Write configuration file > Save changes and
exit.

Re: [Dx4win] Lost packet window FOUND! See solution!

2010-02-07 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
You guys are great and I think many of your answers were pointing in the
correct direction.

The answer from Kostas ( see below ) rang the bell!! I use dual monitors
and DX4WIN is always displayed in the same position on just one of the two
monitors. To make this happen I had gone to File>Preferences>Screen and
checked "Leave all windows in original position". This works great and is
really a function I want; however, I must have somehow gotten the packet
window completely off the screen and of course it was destined to stay there
as long as the box was checked and saved. I did what Kostas said and
unchecked box, saved and restarted DX4WIN--and low and behold up popped the
missing packet window! I highly recommend the "Leave all windows in
original position" function if you get the windows where you like them, BUT
if you want to change those positions or in my case find a missing
window--don't forget to uncheck the box and reposition the layout.

Again thanks to ALL and a special thanks to Kostas. "You Da Man!"

Hello Bill
first of all go to file>preferences>packet1 tab to see if you have chosen
type=regular and COM port=tcp/ip
if not choose it
if yes, your packet window is somewhere outside your screen. You must play
with "Leave all windows in original position" in screen tab (uncheck, save,
check, etc. until you see the packet window).
