What surprises me is that otherwise mature DXers seem nonplussed by a very
basic issue…VK5 was, is, and will be in zone 30.

After further observation, a correction is due. LOTW used to be GIGO,
but it appears that they've made significant improvements in the TQSL
station location setup.
DX4WIN gets the zone data from the CTY.DAT file, maintained by AD1C.
When I put VK5DOC into my dx4win I get zone 30...

Yes, the LOTW entry shows Z29 in the confirmation. I don't remember
now but am guessing after downloading the confirmation ADIF file from
and entering it into my DX4WIN file either it automatically changed it
to Z29 to match his info or I was directed to do so when I ran the
search for IMPORT to
