[Dx4win] Frequency entry in DX4WIN

2002-12-09 Thread Chuck Lewis
Are you guys putting the $$ directly in the Notes field from logging
window? That will not work. You must go to QSO|CONTEST MODE, then in the
Contest Mode window put the $$ in the box labeled 'Text to add to qso
note'. It is not necessary to put a check in the contest mode box. Then
click OK to go back to the logging window. It should put your Freq. in the
log in either contest or non-contest modes. You won't see it until you log
the QSO and then recall it from the log window. Also look under
HELP|SEARCH|CONTEST|CONTEST MODE.

I agree Will... I have tried it and no luck... Is it only in Contest
mode
that it works?? Mine is a Kenwood TS-950SDX and it works great with
DX4WIN in
 every other way...

 What are we doing wrong??

[Dx4win] Frequency entry in DX4WIN

2002-12-08 Thread Mel Martin (VE2DC)
It's not in Preferences... It's in QS0 - Contest menu on the QSO
data window... Not the most intuitive place to put it... But it works
fine...

Only slight inconvenience is if you add a QSO in manual mode... It
inserts a $$ instead of the frequency (which is not available)

[Dx4win] Frequency entry in DX4WIN

2002-12-08 Thread William Liporace - NA2NA
Sorry folks.. I thought it was sent to all...here were the two better
responses

Add the $$ to the pulldown box that opens when you click on QSO and then
Contest Mode where it says Text to add to QSO note

Click on QSO and click on Contest Mode and then enter $$ in the window that
pops up. That will take care of the problem. Works great with my FT-1000MP
and shows both xmit and receive freq.

2002-12-07 Thread Mel Martin
No... and I've been bugging Paul to add such a field...
He didn't seem to think it was a good idea in the past... perhaps he will
have a change of heart in the next release...

You don't really need it for award tracking and such... but dedicated
fields for name and frequency would make import/export easier...

Great program anyway... I don't think you'll be disappointed Mike...

Hello all. Newbie to the list here. I am currently researching DXWIN vs.
DXbase for a Christmas present to myself, and was wanting some advice. I
would like to enter frequency information in my log in addition to (or in
place of) band information. I have downloaded the DX4WIN demo, and I don't
see any way of doing this other than adding the info in the comments field.
Is there a field that can actually be dedicated to frequency info?

 Thanks for the help,
 -Mike, K4GU

The program already keeps the exact frequency now!

Simply put a $$ in the field that says text to add to qso note in the
QSO/Contest Mode Window. The exact frequency including split frequencies
will go into the Notes for this QSO and look like this:

21,021/21,025KHz

Pretty slick and you won't have to wait for the next release. The program
logic is extremely well done.

I've been using $$ for quite some time but I've never seen the split
frequency entered, either when using an Icom 706MkIIG or an Icom 756 Pro

that needs to be done to get the split frequency to be entered (if split
mode is in effect) as well as the main frequency?

DX4WIN already allows you to save that information. If you go into

The ICOM command set does not allow software to tell if the radio is
split or not. This has been driving software authors nuts for as many
years as there has been computer control of ICOM radios.
