Set HTML should destroy the children. A layer is not supposed to have html
content and children.

You would have to do a little work to backport IOElement to 2.5x (events, add
dynapi.functions.getURLArguments). 2.9 is the development version and at some point
the 2.5 version should just be abandoned. I wouldn't consider 2.9 to be 'bleeding
edge" or "unstable", this version is better and l
