I'm not up to speed on the latest methods so I can't offer specific advice, but I suggest you take a look at work with bats. Bat researchers often collect temperature profiles of roosts (shelters used by bats) to investigate roost preferences and thermoregulation. -- Krista Patriquin, PhD
