I might suggest "Biostatistics - The Bare Essentials" by Norman and Streiner
(Mosby-Year Book, Inc. - 1994 - ISBN: 1-55664-369-1). These two Canandians
write with clarity and wit. My in-house seminar students love it. Each major
section is concluded with examples of how biostatistics studies a
