I have been away from Ekiga for a long time. So my question is: Does one
still need to use a headset with a mic attached, or can one now use a
stand alone mic and speakers?

support any colour formats tried by Ekiga.

You might look at 'Preferences General settings' and see if the
Ekiga Gui is checked. If it is try unchecked it and see if that is
your problem.

I do remember doing an apt-get update and upgrade in the last few
days and ,(again) if I remember there was an ALSA and PulseAudio
upgrade. I think this is my problem and I am going to try and
downgrade those two programs.

process numberthen
do a kill -9 xxx . (explain xxx = process number.)

So how do I prevent it from loading into memory in the first place? Is
pulseaudio in
the kernel or somewhere else?
It is in a startup file. something like /etc/init.d but I havent
located it yet, so I know to kill it before starting Ekiga.
