Inverted L for 20: Have your horizontal lamda/2 wire fed at the other end. Make the vertical feeding wire (single) the same length. Voltage feed it on 20 and 40 meters with tuned circuit. Current feed on 80 meters against 20 meter radial. Horizontal wire on 10 meters height is at least 6 dB

I use an xtal element D-104 with the built in pre-amp in the bottom of the stand all the time with my K2 and get great audio reports. Just be sure to keep the gain on the mic amp low or you will overdrive the input to the K2. If you don't have the stand with the amplifier in it you could easily

Does it help to lower level of spot tone? I use spot often on my K2 3829 and no distortion heard , but I have never run it on high levels? I adjust level on spot so an incoming signal blanks it out when pitch is near optimal center. Tom LA1PHA How is your transmitted signal? Any stray from PS?

I agree your findings may be true. Really depends on what you want the antenna's to do. On 20 meters I would have to say that you would have to have a very good dipole to match the G5RV since that is what a G5RV really is. I don't notice any directivity at all with my G5RV on 40 and 80 or 30
