Got my RCC in 1959 as KN0OQA, but back then you
had to be nominated by another Rag Chewer.
What a surprise when it showed up in
the mail. Been framed all these years and is now a
pastel blue instead of the dark blue it started out as.
Look forward to putting the EC-RCC next to my

Inverted L for 20:
Have your horizontal lamda/2 wire fed at the other end.
Make the vertical feeding wire (single) the same length.
Voltage feed it on 20 and 40 meters with tuned circuit.
Current feed on 80 meters against 20 meter radial.
Horizontal wire on 10 meters height is at least 6 dB

Hello All,
I've been running a K2/100 SN 2827 for a couple of years now. It is a vy FB

not have an external connection for ALC and I've been running it with the
external amp through the KPA100 and trusting the K2 ALC to
I use an xtal element D-104 with the built in pre-amp in the bottom of the

keep the gain on the mic amp low or you will overdrive the input to the K2.
If you don't have the stand with the amplifier in it you could easily
Hello Forrest. The K2/100 to the ALS-600 is a great combination. I ran the
ALS-600 with K2/100 for quite a while and then gave up the ALS-600 to my

job for him as well.

I've used this same combination for a little over a year now
and it works beautifully, especially with the Ameritron QSK-5
pin diode T/R switch! I drive the ALS-600 to full output
without throttling back the K2/100 at all with no adverse

I have an Electrovoice EV 630 microphone that I purchased in 1958 during my
1st broadcast job. I used it for record hops.
For sentimental reasons, I would love to use it with my K2 but the problem
is the dynamic microphone impedance is 50 ohms.
Anyone know where I could purchase a 50 ohm to 600

Hi John,
If are getting poor audio reports with the Proset-K2 this indicates that your
transmit BFO settings (BF1t) for both USB and LSB are not optimally adjusted.
The default BF1t
A simple ground stake or single wire counterpoise can be expected to produce
antenna efficiencies of over 90% when used with an end fed *half wave* wire.
The ground resistance is in series with the radiation resistance. A half

Absolutely, for QRP levels!
With the high impedances come very high RF voltages - voltages in the
hundreds, even thousands of volts. That's why compact ATU's like the
Elecraft ATU's can't handle those impedances - even if they could affect a
match the voltages would destroy the caps, relays and
Just getting K2 4329 aligned and on the air.
All alignments are complete (thanks to spectrogram and Tom Hammond), but I have
found that activating the spot tone feature distorts the incoming rx signal.
This is very evident both auditory and when viewing the signal on Spectrogram.

Make sure you didn't break RFC15 (check for continuity). You'll also
hear a very ugly sounding transmit signal if RFC15 is broken.

Does it help to lower level of spot tone?
I use spot often on my K2 3829 and no distortion heard , but I have never

I adjust level on spot so an incoming signal blanks it out when pitch is
near optimal center.

How is your transmitted signal?
Any stray from PS?
Folks,
Just an addendum to the announcement. I have received a couple e-mails
on something that I guess I did not make sufficiently clear. This is
not only a QRP operating award; it IS an Elecraft operating award. All
you good people out there with K2/100's are also eligible for this.

Well, it *is* an ETLA (extended three-letter acrynym), which is
something I had to deal with a lot at Intel -- they love TLAs and ETLAs

Hi Elecrafters,
will there be a KRC2 configuration utility in the near future? I would

I agree your findings may be true. Really depends on what you want the
antenna's to do. On 20 meters I would have to say that you would have to have
a very good dipole to match the G5RV since that is what a G5RV really is. I
don't notice any directivity at all with my G5RV on 40 and 80 or 30
