I have built a KAT1 for a K1, which I acquired already built. The K1
functioned before, and still seems to function now. (I put in the R36
switch.)
I cannot get the KAT1 SWR null setup to work, and I've run out of ideas
as to what could be wrong with the SWR circuit.

I just installed the optional spinner dimple on K2 4890.. Wow, two thumbs

OBTW, 4890 is completed minus the option boards. I am very pleased with
it's performance both xmt & rcv. Thanks to both Gary Surrency and Tom

Hello all,
My K2 kit arrived at noon today. I ordered the bare K2
and the 160m addition.
I have made an inventory of the K2 parts and put
them into a lot of partitions in a component cabinet.
All the differing values of, for example, the small
blue capacitors are in separate partitions, althou
I'm afraid I agree for the most part here. There isn't anything of interest

implemented anyway as far as CW is concerned.

Resistance checks look very good.

Once again, different strokes...
My K1 is primarily a portable radio. At home, I can get WWV on the K2. In
the field, I already have a watch. If the watch craps out, I'll ask someone.
Gaining WWV is not worth giving up slower tuning on the portion of 30m where
I find most CW. My main interest on 3

Lee,
There is an extract from the K2 Rev E manual on my website www.qsl.net/w3fpr
or the mirror at http://home.earthlink.net/~w3fpr. There is no alignment
difference between the Rev E manual and the Rev F as far as I can determine.

I am trying to remember, did somebody distill an
allignment Manual for the K2? I tried to do this
several years ago but I did not get it done. Is there
such a document out there?

Common sense is in short supply - get some and use it.
If you can't find any common sense, ask for hel
John,
I understand that it was working OK and then just quit, so your wiring
should be correct. When you said you 'ohmed out' the speaker, I trust you
meant that you removed the connector from the RF board and did the ohmmeter
check from that point - if not, please do so to check continuity throu
I tried 150 khz at first. The tuning is WAY too fast and the added
frequencies are of no use to QRP for the most part. I changed to 80 khz and
the tuning is slower while providing coverage of the most active CW portions
of each band. I also built for 10.1 mhz as most of the useful QRP activity

You can become accoustomed to either but I prefer the narrow range.
The knob is much more sensitive on the wide range.

Is there a way to mute the speaker output of the K2... perhaps in some of
the menus? I was messing with the menu options of my K2100 and seem to have
lost speaker output (though headphone output is just fine).
I took the side panel off and the speaker ohms out correctly at the
connector end.
Hi all,
I will get my K1 with KFL1-4 to build. I want to know your opinions, which VFO
range I have to select?
Any answer would be appreciated.

I don't have a KFL1-2 for my K1, but the chip in both is called an I/O
Controller on the schematic so my guess is that it is the correct part.
There aren't any other K1 I/O chips as there aren't any other K1 I/O
options!

I picked up several of the Bananna Plug/BNC adapters from Radio Shack. Also
found some at a local Electronics surplus store for about half the price.

Since yesterday was a holiday, I was going to take it easy and build
my KFL1-2 option for my K1 instead of working hard at being retired
but I was missing a part and I have a question about another part.
The PIC chip on my KFL1-4 board has a paper tag stuck to it that
states KFL1-4 and the version
They will work fine with the K1. I use a set of MAHA 2700 mah batteries in
mine almost every weekend.
Here is a little chart I made up and laminated to stick on the K1 which
shows the most efficient Power Output vs. Battery Voltage. Keep tabs on your
battery voltage with the built-in voltmeter and
