REF CAL. There is supposed to be a Method 3 to enter the frequency vs.
temperature data shipped with the KTCXO3-1 TCXO. I guess this hasn't been
implemented yet?

Let's say you have selected a 2.8 kHz filter. Use the LO CUT control to move
the low cut freq to 0.00.
Now turn that same control clockwise and notice that it goes to 0.20, 0.30,
0.40.
Now move the control back down. Notice that it goes to 0.30, 0.20, 0.10, and
then finally, 0.00.

At one time 5 or 10 watts was pretty typical on 6, 2 and 1-1/4 meters

Hi Al,
No.
It is also wise to re check REF CAL after maybe a year of burn in.
I re did mine after about 1-1/2 years and I had to retune approx
50Hz lower. Only to be expected.

Hi Bill,
The K1/2/3 rigs do very well on solar power. We ran the K3 (at 90W) on solar
for awhile last Field Day.
You are correct in assuming three components for solar: the PV
(photo-voltaic) panel, (a constant current source), the storage battery
(constant voltage source) and an interface
I reported that to headquarters many months ago.

Being able to lock my K3 to an external 10MHz reference might be nice
someday though.
That might make it more stable but it won't make it more accurate.
For the reason why, see:

Hi Al,
There are many strange behaviors in LO CUT/HI CUT mode that have been
there for a long time. They aren't usually noticeable in normal day-
to-day operation, but they just make no sense. If you're curious,
search the list archives for a message with the subject K3 - LO CUT/

I feel for you Eric and the group. There's always a wish or request. It will
never end. But I am the happiest now with my radio than ever.
Wish Item: When setting Noise Reduction. I prefer 4-1 for CW and 8-1 for SSB.
Could you have 8-x followed by 4-x? In other words. Have the selections

Paul,
I suppose I should have added necessarily more accurate.
What I'm getting at is that the K3 received frequency varies as the DSP
bandwidth is adjusted. So for example, if one was going to read the frequency
of a beat note on a sound card, without other tuning, the beat note will change
Hi William,
K3 #24 has been running on solar power since I bought it.
Our house electrical is set up a bit like yours, though we have a 48V
system and FLA storage that covers the house if grid power disappears.
The grid tied inverter is an older Xantrex SW4048.

Hello all...
Semi- off topic problem. I have a BIY Windows computer running XP3 on an
ASUS M2N-SLI deluxe MB. This computer is about three years old and works
perfectly [except for the following...]. In the past, I had loaded and
run w/o problem HRD w/ my K2 #5957. Computer, software and K2
Robert,
If I recall correctly, that is the message HRD gives when it thinks some
other application is using the serial port.
Try re-booting and run HRD before anything else. If it still does not
work, you may have something in your system startup that is making the
serial port active before
Hi gang,

Solar power works great and now with the 30% tax incentive you have a
real decent pay back. However there a some downsides! Remember that PV
panels have a lot of wind surface and there could be zoning
considerations and of course you need to face south and being at the
roof angle you lose a

This is a Honda eu2000i question mostly. They can make a lot of noise

Good Evening,
Dvorak is playing as the sun sets on a very fine day. Got to near 90 so we
have had a little bit of summer again. Earlier in the week I had to keep the
fire going to stay warm because outside temperatures were near 50 degrees.
What a difference a couple days make!
