Solar power works great and now with the 30% tax incentive you have a real
decent pay
Thanks for all the inquiries. The unit has been spoken for and the

I was playing with HRD this afternoon and when swapping bands I ended up on
14 Mc in LSB mode..
I've been trying to get it on USB again but I'm missing something I guess
(and didn't even have a beer this afternoon.)
Where can set the proper mode again?
73's, Evert PA2KW
Problem solved. I think the LSB mode is somewhere disabled for 14 Mc.
By toggling the mode (up) I didn't get the USB Mode. (For some unknown
reason I'm always toggling up until I get what I want).
By toggling down I did get back the USB mode.

Evert,
You inadvertently switched to USB. The way to do it by intent is to
hold ALT (yes, the MODE down button (you must have tapped for longer
than a tap).
Only one of the sidebands is shown for any one band - same way for CW
and DATA modes - if you want to change to the opposite sideband,
Hello Don,
It was the software (HRD) that did it for me.
But it's good to see that at the end WE do have control over the radio :-)

And this is the one big reason that I'd recommend the Yaesu over the K3:
user interface.
What do I know, though, I have a K2.

Ron,
It certainly seems that way to me - those are Normally Open contacts and
the relay coil is activated by 12T which is only active during transmit.
Disconnect everything from the Ant jack (J1) and measure the resistance
between the center conductor of J1 to ground - it should be fairly high
I wanted to tell the group about my latest experience with Don Wilheim W3FPR.
I got 2 months ago a fully loaded K2 in very clean condition and even it was
working fairly well,it had some issues with bad alignment having the four
filters not well aligned plus excessive power output on some bands
Interesting comments. I was just wondering one thing, do you really haul
around 16 6v batteries in the back of your pickup? I calculate that is
almost a 1000 pounds of extra weight. Do you use a inverter then to get
120ac for your trailer or what?

Don is also a mentor to the builder. He told me how to fine tune the filters
so as to maximise power output for individual band of my K2.

We have 440 AH of 6V golf cart batteries in our RV. Don't know
what they weigh ... don't care. (:-)
Pretty normal for a solar powered RV. We have no other power
source. They power the K3, lights, vent fans, furnace blower, etc.
and deliver 120 VAC @ 1500 W via a Trace inverter if needed.
I neglected to say that there's 12A of solar panels on the
roof of the RV. There's on other charging equipment as
I removed the battery boiler converter. (;-)

Don,
Thanks again for the help. I think this is working and I will move ahead. I
just need to install my new KNB2 and I should be ready to get the rig back
in the operating position.
I do not have a major gripe with the KAT-2 directions, but it could use an
update. I have a fair amount of

Good Evening,
Twenty meters had QSB on most callers though it was productive and fair to
most locations. Weather reports were cooling off from what they had been last
week. I even got a report of rain in California! There were sprinkles up here
but not enough to prevent walking outside
Thanks for the quick reply Lyle, that did the trick.

My switch tones are off and I don't get beeps any other time, but I guess it
doesn't disable the ATU tuning beeps. Lyle was able to tell me how to turn it
down.

We had a very short and sparse SSB net today on 14.316 MHz. The signal
levels were not very good. We only had 12 participants including net
control and ran for 11 minutes. My apologies to KB9BNI, but I was unable to
pull your rig information through. Here is a list of the 12 participants:
