Agree regarding the KPA500.
But why not make the antenna a 1.8-50.0MHz log-periodic with a minimum gain
of 5 dB?

Ah yes, I'd forgotten all about diversity. Having said that I don't have
antennas for diversity here but going /P at a contest qth it could well be
*very* useful.
Thanks for the reminder Jon, one good reason to put it out on here...

They were great and have excellent ears. I responded to their QRZ CQ with
only 20 watts last night and forgot to bump the power up for the linear
needs at least 65w to trigger. I'm glad their using K3s and heard me bust
the pile up with 20w from Honolulu using my G5RV.

It is worth pointing out that Rumlog and Fldigi happily coexist too. Rumlog
will use Fldigi's serial connection to the K3. One further thing is that I had
no luck with getting Fldigi to communicate with the K3 and had to use Flrig -

Nice! Looks pretty funky!
Maybe Elecraft should sponsor a design contest to make a working
all-band antenna in that exact configuration. Something they could
sell. The winner gets a complete K-Line station!

It is a 2.1mm coaxial jack. A 2.5mm plug will not fit.
All the Elecraft gear that I know about uses that same size jack.

I have fairly new K3 KPA500. They both are running the latest

at 2.8kHz. If there is an increase in noise level, or other adjacent
signals I will switch receive BW progressively from 2.8kHz to 1.8 then

For some reason the bill of materials for the KX1 omits the size, so it

What you see in the display when not tuning is the time-averaged noise (or
signal), depending on how you have the averaging parameter set. When you're
tuning rapidly the P3 can't average, so the level appears to rise. It's rising
toward the actual peak noise level.
