Andy there is a Zener diode (BZW50-15) protection.
I have not been bold enough to actually testing it :-)
Download the schematics

and look for (use Search function) for D28 .

Does anyone know if the KX3 will have the same TX INH config setting as the K3
has in the future? I see no reference to it in the owners manual.
Thanks!!!

Terry,
It is possible that Wayne can add that function to the GPIO signal on
the ACC2 connector. The list of available functions for that pin has
not yet been completed to the best of my knowledge.
Be aware that this is only one pin, so the functions will be mutually
exclusive. The K3 has a
Has anyone tried this or is it possible?
I'm sure someone has considered it and I would like to do that with one. I
was thinking of buying the K3/0 for remote use but if the KX3 would do it
also that would be the path I will take. I guess part of it is just the cool
factor of the KX3 even if I

I'm wondering if others might benefit from an additional bit being added
to the ABCD band data making it ABCDE. This could permit:
1- 32 choices (programmable by the firmware program?)
2- phone/cw antenna automatically being switched or another antenna
being switched to at a certain cutoff

Brian,
I cannot give you an official Elecraft answer, but I will share my
opinion.
The KX3 hardware is stable - there have been a few (but very few)
changes since the first KX3 shipped (I have the first one off the
production line). Elecraft always offers a path to upgrade the hardware

Hi,
I am having trouble with the SET F serial command. If I enter a frequency in
the same band as the current frequency, nothing happens. Doing a GET F
returns the original frequency. If the new frequency is in a different band,
the next GET F reads 0.

Hi Brian,
The only major firmware feature not yet available is the DVR (digital
voice recorder). I just got that working last night and should have
field-test code early this week. There are numerous outstanding minor
bugs and wish-list items, but this is typical for a product less than
Hi Terry,
The KX3 already supports TX inhibit on the ACC2 jack. See the ACC2 IO
menu entry description. It may be missing from very early owner's
manual revisions, but you can download the latest one from our web site.

Hi Wayne,
I understand the KXPA100 is expected to be released during 1Q of 2013. However,
what the expected release date for the KX3-2M module? I sold my FT-897D to buy
the KX3 and I really miss 2M.
On a side note...just got my KPA500 amp about 1 week ago and I love it!

Good to hear such stories. Charging NiMH is not easy.
I bought 4.8Ah Li-Ion battery for $57. Weighs 10 oz. Six weeks ago charged
from 4A 4 oz computer charger in 1.5 h. Traveled to OH, ES and PA and made
many contacts from each country. Came back and made many more contacts. 12W
all the time.
I think you need Microham Station Master. It will do need all you want + much
more. IMHO K3 already does enough.
