Graham,
Congratulations. Looks like a nice design. Are you using a TUH-1
mixer? Looks like the one that is used in DEMI transverters. Also
does not look difficult to put on 10.472 MHz using an external 10-MHz
reference osc. This would be ideal running the K3 in TEST mode.

These days, it might be less expensive to find a small flat-panel TV
set that has VGA input. However, on of the big consumer electronic
sites sent me an email today hawking a 20 LED monitor for $99. That
seems like a modest price.

And I doubt it would be legal to use an amateur transceiver for
aircraft communications, even if the KX3 just happened to cover the
air band.
Some ham transceivers will permit listening to the air band, but none
permit transmitting on those frequencies. And for good reason.

Just a line to thank all of those of you that gave me guidance re the filter

Amazing amount of replies, nice to feel a part of something worthwhile!!

Hello Igor,
If you want to measure (with useful accuracy) the level of the IMD products

Don,
If the output of the 2 Tone generator which is built into the KX3 is
injected into the audio chain before any speech processing circuitry, yes
the internal 2 Tone generator could be used.

Hi,

My question is related to the 2 meter side of my K3-100 model 0591. Problem is

Hi Guys!
You probably saw the previous E mail I sent out showing a bunch of VHF UHF
Antennas I was taking up to M2 to sell at the open house and BBQ. As it turned
out that didn't work out for a whole variety of reasons so I am going to try it
again at the TRW Swap Meet.
As I reported before
I'm trying to resolve a conflict: is the KRX3 sub receiver a must have, or

I understand it's uses. In my case, I am mostly considering it as an added
resource for working dx split pileups. I have the P3, and have found it

You've already pretty much answered your own question. Hearing that faint

were coming across, as I might not have been having fun with this build. I
am going to leave the overall impressions for my final summary posts but one
thing I wanted to point out
Bill,
You are not missing anything. The KRX3 will allow you to listen to the
DX in one ear and the pileup in the other ear. If you would find that
confusing to your brain, then the KRX3 will be useless for you. but if
your brain can sort out the left ear, right ear situation, then it is a
I think I've figured out why my subrx seems to be much less sensitive than
the main. I was playing around with the bandwidth control today while
having the VFOs linked.
I have the same filter setup in main and sub, a 2.8K and a 250hz, both 8

Just used the K3 utility to disable the 250 8p on the sub and the audio now
is balanced regardless of sub bandwidth. Of course the noise level changes
but no imbalance with strong or weak sigs between the two.
Now to figure out if it's the socket or the filter at fault.

Make sure the filter gain compensation is set properly for the 250 Hz filter. The easiest
