Paul, I doubt that anyone can predict the effect exactly without some very
sophisticated modeling software and exact dimensions. I will give a stab at
it, but because you are talking about a very wide frequency band and some
unknowns about bonding and the conductivity of the roof you will have
The secret to that is to get a big-honking-old-fashioned soldering iron to
solder with. I have one that ATT issued my FIL is about 1938 that works

He just wondered if putting a new metal roof on his house would screw up his

Dick,
It is very strange that the K2 would have a problem like that on only
one band. Does your KPA100 have a shield over the speaker magnet?
About the only thing that I can think of is that the speaker shield is
missing and its magnetic field is interfering with the operation of the

Some KX3 owners hear a pulsing or clicking noise when tuning the VFO on higher
bands, especially when atmospheric noise is low. We discovered that the KXFL3
filter module is responsible for nearly all this noise, and that it can be
reduced or eliminated with a simple modification to the module.

How come this works? What was the function of those pins that caused the

The three pins removed in the KXFL3 modification provide control signals for

The instructions suggest that realignment of the filter may be necessary if

Hi Joe,
I just did, and the tuning noise is gone on all affected bands!
To be sure nothing was changed at the filter I will check the sideband

We're now offering an external low-noise, high-performance preamp that covers
both 6 and 10 meters: the PR6-10. The PR6-10 provides useful gain and low noise

In most respects, the PR6-10 functions the same as the PR6,
